Christ, the CroMags, I saw them in the 80’s right after Age of Quarrel came out, I now feel even older, I also saw AF, Nasty Savage and I think DRI on a triple bill out on some club in Nassau county maybe a couple years after that (Sundowns or something like that was the name) I do miss not looking like a fucking narc when I fo to a show nowadays, luckily my kids listen to all my old Murphy’s Law, Sick Of It All and Nuclear Assault each morning on the way to Catholic School, I now officially live vicariously through them. Ty for the memories.
I probably saw DRI like 10 times at least, once in Seattle at the Gorilla Gardens and a bunch at this little abandoned warehouse by the Tacoma Dome–it seems like they used to be on the bill about every weekend.
Keep us posted on how the meet prep goes. When I was young, cutting twenty pounds was nothing. Now … nothing will cut twenty pounds for me. ![]()

We own much the same record collection. I am guessing like me you never had much hair in the 80s. Last time AF played here everyone thought I was Roger and Vinnie’s bodyguard, lol. I roadied for Jimmy G and company for a stint though.
Random post on Jack’s log, since we are talking HC and PL.
I grew up very intimately in the Hardcore scene. Developed some of my best friendships through it. Most people, I think, go and buy music that makes them happy, or wiggle their ass a little. And I buy some of that too. But anyone that grew up in the ‘scene’ knows music is much deeper than that, more primordial, more life changing and life making.
My best friends, my ‘family’, are mostly from those all ages HC afternoon shows in the 80s. But now I am building as strong relationships from a very similar subculture, powerlifting. Another group of freaks too extreme to want to be apart of the next wave of media and politician led mind warping bullshit. People focused on being strong, one way or another…
Anyway, deep thoughts. sorry for the hijack, Jack.
Pete, feel free to hijack anytime about anything. Thanks for stopping in.
5’s day, Press, TM 180:
Press: 45 x20, 95 x5, 115 x5, 135 x5, 155 x11, 145 x5, 5, 5.
Superset with Wide Grip Pullups: 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 2.
FreeMotion Pull downs: A bunch of sets x 10.
DB clean and press: 80s x 5 (1 clean, 5 press).
Notes: Press felt pretty strong today. My shoulders were fried by the time I got to dips so I called it quits.
JJ,
11 reps on MP is like a recurring nightmare to me, nice work + a shit ton (32?) of pull-ups, outside of the ARmy 32 may actually be my lifetime total. Nice lifting.
Thanks for the props, Brian, I appreciate it.
3’s day, deads, TM 450.
45 x10, 135 x10, 225 x5, 315 x3, 365 x3, 405 x9 (Rep PR), 385 x 3, 3, 3.
Hammie Curls: 1 set x5, then old lady bogarted in.
GM’s: 135 x5, 185 x5, 235 x5.
Notes: My target for the money set was 8, and I hit 9. I feel pretty good about it. I did one set on the hammie curl machine, walked over for a drink, and when I got back some bag lady had set up camp. I gave her a Larry David WTF look, and she gave me the evil eye. Evil eye beets WTF look every time. Se va.

Hahaha, Ive seen that look before, and like you, lost and beat it out of there. Nice deads btw. Lifts are looking good.
I’ve only had one guy “bully” me in a gym. Usually, I find that men defer to women in the weightroom. I must admit that I have no problem asking guys “how many sets do you have left?” Especially if they’re doing something like curling in MY cage.
Nice going Jack…used to have this old guy that liked to step in on machines I was using when I went for a drink. He wasn’t doing it on purpose, just clueless. I let him stay there and moved on, didn’t have the heart to tell him he was a knuckle head and I wasn’t finished.

Same here. Especially when the boyz are just curling the bar.
Nice work in here, jack.
Yeah. Curling in the cage with a lot of momentum while they gaze at themselves in the mirror like Narcissus.

Back when I could squat and DL I had a corner of the gym I refered to as mine and eventually other people did to. Of course that could mean I was the “bully”
