We got our parent orientation for the boy’s preschool tonight. He’s pretty excited about starting–his cousin already goes there so he’s really looking forward to it. That little monkey is getting bigger everyday.
Maybe a 20 lb. PR was a bit much to ask, but you never know until you try!
Regardless of the 225 miss that still damn fine pressing and you did hit a PR, good looking milies.
Wow, I’m wicked tardy…A 500lb pull…WOW and 25 rows at 125? And man do I miss the days of the little ones…dealing with two teenagers make me age…rapidly!! great work in here as always!!
Mmmmmmm…Salmon! You sure do it up right. And those are some strong strong workouts, congrats on the 500 pull.
Good lifts, always great to get another century mark. I’ve got a river in my back yard but miss the ocean big time. Haven’t had good fresh salmon since my Alaska days. Looks like the trip took a little of the edge off the fear part of the fear and inertia.
Thanks, people, for saying stopping in and saying hi.
5’s day, deads, TM 450.
Deads: 45 x10, 135 x10, 225 x5, 275 x5, 345 x5, 385 x10, 345 x 5, 5, 5.
GMs: 45 x10, 95 x5, 145 x5, 195 x5.
Leg curls: a bunch of sets x5.
Notes: I felt crappy, headache and achy, but I needed to lift, so I did. Nothing to eventful, but I was fairly pleased with the money set. There was a tall kid–looked like a baseball player–deadlifting next to me, getting instruction from his dad. I almost had to leave. I was not sure whether he was going to tear his bicep or blow out his back first, but it looked like something had to give. He looked ok when he left, but I had plenty of bite marks in my tongue.
I hope you are feeling improved. Training while feeling crappy is better than skipping it, but still no fun.
There is so much that I see in the weight room that makes me need to put bite marks in my tongue. But I try to focus on my own training and let the rest go.
Kimba, thanks for stopping in. I felt much better this morning after a huge pancake, bacon, sausage, ham, hashbrown, and eggs over easy breakfast.
Bench day, 5s, TM 275.
Bench: 45 x30, 135 x15, 185 x5, 205 x5, 235 x11, 225 x 5, 5, 5.
Chest-supported rows: 1 plate x10, 2 plates x10, 3 plates x10, 4 plates x3, 3 plates x8, 2 plates x10, 1 plate x 10.
Incline DB Bench: 65s x 10, 95s x4, 75s x10.
Peck Deck: A few sets x 20.
Notes: My backside and lower back was pretty sore after Yesterday, so I took it a little easy on the rows today. I like the chest supported rows, I may have to do more of these. Bench felt pretty good for a rep day. I can’t find my log book anywhere, so I’m a little pissed about that.
I tend to see this a lot with father/son combos. The fathers have crappy form and encourage their sons to lift WAY TOO MUCH weight with crappy form. Ugh.
I saw an interesting mother/daughter team the other day. The daughter was squatting with pretty nice form and depth. Her mother walked over (after finishing aerobics) and chided her for not using the foam padding thingy. “You’re going to get hurt without it . . .” I wanted to say “No she won’t.” But I didn’t.
5’s night, squats, TM 415.
Squats: 45 x 10, 135 x10, 225 x5, 275 x5, 325 x5, 355 x 10.
Front Squats (to low pins): 135 x5, 225 x5, 275 x1, 315 x0. Anderson Front Squat: 225 x1.
Notes: I felt pretty good on the money set tonight. On front squats, I went to low pins and unloaded. On 315, I tried a lower bar position to get some more air, but it didn’t work and I dumped it onto the pins.
Side notes: I committed to the same full power meet I did last year on Dec. 4, 2010. I am going to complete this cycle of 5-3-1, then change things up a bit. I am not sure if I want to cut back to 220, or kick it in the 242 class. But I’ll probably just stay fat and see how much I can lift.

yeehaw! a bunch of us competing in the first week of December! Lookin’ forward to it and stay out of the 220 class.
George, its about time for another meet, it should be a fun weekend. And, ya, I am not real excited about cutting.
I thought the new thread title seemed appropriate, especially for those who appreciate 80’s Italian HardCore.
yeah know, I was about to come into this new thread, or newly titled thread, with guns ready, but you won me over on the 80s Italian Hardcore. With that you won my heart over.
speaking of 80s hardcore my friends AF are doing some sort of 25th anniversary tour of Victim in Pain, their first LP, which was like 5 minutes long. I just reclaimed my original pressing. Go see them, or I will make MJ eat you.
Here’s a 90s HC classic from them
Pete, I had a feeling you’d see the title, then get a change of heart once you rolled inside. ![]()
Thanks for the AF, I used to have some of their stuff on cassette tape, but its been a while since they have been in the rotation.

Roger aka Rogelio is a close friend, and I have done a lot of behind the scenes stuff for the band. They really are the forefathers of a lot of the hardcore and metal stuff that gained popularity after them… but they receive little recognition, at least state side.
OH, and being a true 80s nyhc fan I would say 90 percent of my prs are done to either AF or CroMags…
Hey, some old dudes go their BOC, I got me something nastier…
I just checked out some of AF’s dates, it looks like midwest and east coast only. I will keep me eye out if they ever hit the PacNW.
And I can also dig me some BOC.
cromags ftw…
nice work jack.
Losing 20 lbs. for a meet is unimaginable to me, and sounds quite painful. Besides, George says no. ![]()
