Raw Power

I didn’t send you off to school to become one of those god-damned rock and rollers!

Excavator operator, whoo, that’s better.

Haha. We never had toys like that growing up. Always jus tthe same plain swings & teeter totters.

Love the pics. Boy, he’s a cutie. Sending my kids to preschool seems like so long ago.

Great stuff, Jack. And yes, bittersweet. My youngest started pre-k this year.

Thanks for the visit, folks, its been pretty exciting around here, what with school starting and all. Scott, the new toys are crazy. I seem to remember just getting to play with rocks, sticks, and dirt, until we were old enough for BB guns and firecrackers.

Squat Day, 3’s, TM 415.

Squats: 45 x10, 135 x10, 225 x3, 275 x3, 315 x3, 345 x3, 375 x6.

Front Squats: 135 x5, 225 x5, 275 x3.

Notes: I thought I would celebrate Snapper’s birthday by working on squat depth. All squats back and front except the money set were unloaded on pins set below parallel–just about as deep as I could physically go without radically adjusting my stance. On the money set, I hit the pins touch-and-go and unloaded the last rep. It felt pretty good today, although my lower back was still a little torched from deads the other day going in.

Those pix made me feel so old. Squats look good as does all your training. Do you feel the front squats are adding anything to increasing your backsquats?

Kids…love 'em. They grow up fast. I used to ask them their opinion to get them thinking. Now I’m starting to ask them (8 and 9 years old) for advice.

Great training.

Mine just started pre-school. He is definitely the center of attention from what I hear.

I am deeply touched. I think.

Thanks, Pete, and GDone, for stopping in. Harry, I do think front squats help, the heavier the better. Snapper, I am glad you think you were deeply touched.

3’s Day, Press, TM 180

Press: 45 x20, 95 x10, 135 x3, 145 x3, 165 x7, 145 x3, 3, 3.

Wide Grip Pullups/Slanted bars: 6, 5, 4, 4, 3.

Dips: BW x20.

FreeMotion Lat Pulldowns: 100 x20.

Notes: I didn’t have much time. Quick and dirty tonight. Press strength was down a bit.

Looking good, jack. And that’s a fine workout for quick and dirty.

Funny thing is I remember sending him off to preschool and then it seemed like a minute later he was leaving for Iraq. Time sure has a way of getting away from you fast…

Nice lifting in here, and the pics of the kid were great.

Awesome pictures here JJack. Good lifting also. I noticed that when I bench good my MP is down in same week.

I am wondering if we make the chest/shoulder day on same day 5/3/1 and then do the second upper day as an accesory day.

like: flat bench 5/3/1
rows of some sort 4x8
mp 5/3/1

accesory day: (repetition)
pullups
dips
curls
close grip bench
or something similar
all done for volume like all 5x10-15

My reasoning is were doing the same movement with alot of intensity with just a minor change of angle. Kinda hits alot of the same muscles.

Just a thought.

Rick

You think, therefore you are.

Great pics Jack, very funny commentary.

You are going to be putting up some big PRs in your next meet for sure.

Nice lifing going on in here. Personally I can’t do a “heavy” bench and shoulder today together, but maybe you guys are more used to it than myself. I wimp out alot haha.

Thanks, LS, Joe, Punny, I appreciate it. Colin, your post is well taken, and I appreciate the reminder.

Rick, I was just thinking along those same lines. Also, though, I have a big work project going on and a lot of stress associated with it, and my food intake and sleep have suffered, which I am sure affected my press day. I think Scott has a point as well, and that the press would suffer some, but press numbers don’t count towards your total, either. I may give your spilt a shot after the December PL meet.

I am glancing at other logs, but don’t have much time to post, although I do appreciate everyone stopping in.

At least he isnt watching the guys ride on the back of the garbage truck and saying, “Wow, that looks like fun. I think I want to do that instead of going to school.” Those words came out of my 12 year old daughter… who is in the Jr. Beta Club this year…

Your training is looking great, Jack
