Thanks, fellas! Yup, OP, lifetime PR. There was a another power lifter at the gym. I was just going to pull 475 tonight, but he said I had no rounding or form breaks, and that I had another 25 lbs., easy. So I loaded it up and it came up pretty fast. The last few inches were a real grind, however. I am pretty stoked, I am off to gets some pizza, but I’ll check in on everyone in a bit.
Thanks, KMC, I am going to try the elbows thing. Kimba, no, I didn’t. I bought a 1TB external hard drive to dump my video camera into on the way to the gym! But my camera was still full and I was not planning on going that heavy. I am kicking myself, I would have really liked to have had that one on tape. I won’t make that mistake with 600.
Regarding hot tubs. At my gym, it’s co-ed. I’ve only been in it once. I made it about 2 minutes before some guy got in and said something like “I bet you’re sore. Want me to rub your shoulders?” It was very awkward, especially because I’m [surprisingly] shy in such situations. But who gets in a hot tub and asks to rub a complete stranger? Really. Who knows what was going on beneath the bubbles.
The 3,4,5 club. Hmm. Don’t think I’ll be invited soon.
Thanks, Joe, a good time was had by all. We had great weather and poor fishing, but my dad did manage to land a few. The dogs had a blast on the dunes and the surf. And my boy turned three on the trip and had a great time as well.
Front squats: 135 x5, 225 x3, 315 x 1, 340 x no attempt.
It was a decent day after a little lay off and a belly full of bacon grease. 385 felt good, depth felt good, but I need to get some video to be sure. I unracked 340, but it did not feel right and I could not get any air. So I racked it and went home.
Sorry I’m late…
Great pull! Congratulations! That is a huge marker. Bench and squats both look great, as well. And it sounds like a great trip!
Little Jack looks like a happy camper…literally.
That is a Pacific King (Chinook) Salmon. That particular one is on the smallish side for a returning King (about 15lbs. wet) and was a hatchery fish. You can tell it was a hatchery fish because it has a fin clipped to identify it as such. Wild Kings were off limits this year and were not really running anyway–they are getting rarer and rarer each year. This year was very, very slow fishing for Willapa Bay this time of year. Lots of boats were getting skunked. In 07, my cousin’s crew limited most days (6 fish per person per day) and had one King over 45 lbs. This would have been among the smallest they landed in 07.
We ate this one a few hours after it was caught. I filleted it, poured lemon juice on it with a little salt and pepper, cooked it in tin foil on the grill, and let it simmer for a bit. This one fed about 15-20 hungry people.
Here is where we were fishing, its a pretty awesome place to fish.
