Oh, I love playing squat depth judge! Makes me feel so important.
I have to agree with Carl. First looked good. Second looked right at parallel. You are so damn close, though, and it all comes down to how picky your judges are and what side of the bed they get out of that morning.
Love watching your walkouts. I do “stumbleouts” once the weight gets heavy, so I appreciate watching anyone who looks like it’s a supreme effort to walk it out.
Good luck on Saturday! I think you’ll do great.[/quote]
I agree. Great squats. I am envious.
It looked to me like the j-hooks were just a bit high and the left side of the bar was catching on the way out throwing things off a bit. Maybe I’m wrong about that.
Jack, you are so much stronger than what I recall from your first meet. You’re going to do great. And get videos this time for the peanut gallery, not just pictures!
(Off-topic: do you know what your inseam is? Ghey as that sounds, I ask because that is the exact same power rack I squat in, and I put the safety bars in the 4th hole as well; I tap or pause on the bars, and I’d like to get an idea of how deep my squat might be)
Thanks, lady and gents, I appreciate the support. Punny guy, I’m a 30 leg on Levis.
GPP: Swim, a few laps, lounge in hot tub.
Notes: I’m heavy, maybe too heavy to make weight. Lots of chicken, nuts, broccoli, and water today and tomorrow. I had eggs with cheese for breakfast, and the dairy may have screwed me on the water retention. I thought this was Wednesday when I had breakfast. I figure if I get a few gallons of water in tomorrow, swallow a few lemons before bed, cut out all salt, piss about 10 times tomorrow night, and then cut off the food and water in the morning before weigh in, I might make it. I am not going to sweat any water out, stop eating, or get a colonic to make weight, but I would rather not lift with the 275s if I can help it.
Oh gee. Good luck making weight. The cutting has to be painful. Talked to a lifting buddy last Sunday who is doing the same meet as me this weekend but had seven pounds to lose to hit the 148s. As of yesterday, she described her week as “hellish.”
Yah, 2 hours, and the suck thing is its not until noon. Thus, probably no water, food, or coffee until noon. If I am not under in the morning, I am just going to start eating like a pig and not worry about it.

Is your meet Saturday or Sunday?
I’ve been threatening to bump the top of the 100kg class but was 217lbs this am. Guess I can eat like at pig at the sushi place this evening with friends…

George, my meet is tomorrow.
I think you should eat the shit out of some sushi tonight. I doubt you will pick up three pounds on Sushi. Go easy on the rice and stay away from bread and dairy today–those things can make you bloat and retain water weight. 16 oz. of water equals a pound, so that is where weight fluctuation comes from. Also, drink water like a fish today and don’t drink any water in the morning until you weigh yourself.
Good luck on making weight painlessly. I hate that part of competing. I’ve been sitting a kilo or two below my weight class limit for the last few months, and I wouldn’t be sad for it to stay that way.
