When’s the meet coming up again? You spelled it meat btw. I’m not usually a nazi about spelling but the other day BB said he doesn’t write his training down. He just tracks his meet numbers. While he was squatting I shouted at him about his pork and sausage numbers. I don’t think it helped him but it amused the shit out of me.[/quote]

Thanks, that really gave me a smile for my day.

Strong squatting and benching here. I wonder if a letter from a lawyer as to the dangerous nature of the squat rack might get some attention.

Thanks, guys and gals, for stopping in. Kimba, I am guessing they’d either just yank my memberships or pull the racks altogether.

Deads day.

Deads: 45 x10, 135 x10, 225 x5, 315 x 3, 365 x3, 415 x1, 465 x1, 475 x1, 485 x1.

Notes: 475 was a real grinder. I think my belt was too tight. I left the lever undone for 485 and it flew up. I think I’m on to something.

Side notes: I have been thinking some about front squats, and I no longer think I am having a problem getting oxygen, I think I’m cutting off blood flow to the carotid artery. I think I am giving myself the sleeper hold/lateral vascular neck restraint when I get near a max. I am just not sure what to do about it.

500 is there buddy!

could be on the sleeper hold, but in my experience to do a sleeper you need the pressure on the either side of the trachea and not really constricting the windpipe at all

I hear you on the trachea deal, but that’s just it, I don’t feel like I’m shutting off the air flow, I am just wondering if the pressure on the neck and muscle contraction coupled with where the bar rests is shutting down or restricting the blood flow. Maybe not, but I can’t help but think that’s what’s going on.

I know. I was just kidding.

Sometimes its just hard to know what is happening body-wise. I always get lightheaded after my deadlift workout when I conv. pull the 135# bar up to rails to unload it. Why this happens when I don’t feel that way after pulling way heavier weights sumo, I can’t explain.

Kimba, maybe its just the nature of the beast.

Bench Day.

Bench: 45 x30, 95 x15, 135 x10, 185 x3, 225 x3, 250 x1 (paused), 275 x 1(paused), 295 x 1, 1, 1, 1, 1 (paused).

WG Pullups: 6, 5, 4, 4, 4.

OHP: 135 x 5, 185 x 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1.

Cables Pulls: 3 x10 with most of the stack.

Pec Dec: 2 x15 with most of the stack.

Notes: 295 felt pretty easy. I think that will be my 2nd attempt at the meet. Then something just over 300.

Looks great, Jack. 300+ will go, no problem.

I’d say 300+ would go easy too if you hit 290 with the pause for five singles!

Thanks, LS, and KSnap, for the encouragement!

Squat night:

Squats: 45 x10, 135 x10, 225 x5, 315 x3, 365 x2, 405 x1, 425 x1, 445 x1, 1, 1, 1.

Notes: I felt good tonight. I think I cut the first 445 single high, followed by three legal squats. I really wanted a vid to be sure, but the battery was dead. 445 is my current best ever gym squat, so I fetl pretty good about hitting 3-4 of the them tonight.

Jack, your lifts are looking really good and really strong. I think you are going to peak at the right time and put in a great performance. You’ve earned it.

The squats are really looking good lately.

Great lifting Jack. If you can knock out 4 singles at your previous PR with no trouble, I’d guess you could probably add at least another 25 lbs when fired up.

Thanks, fellas, I appreciate it. Brett, I’m not sure where I’m at right now. 445 felt pretty heavy, but not scary heavy. I need to get some video so I can make sure I am at depth.

Jack - you are putting up some great numbers just in time for your meet. I agree - video that 445 and put it up for us.

Thanks, George, I’ll try and vid my lower work from hear on out.

Bench: 45 x30, 95 x15, 135 x10, 185 x3, 225 x3, 250 x1, 275 x1, 300 x1, 305 x1, 310 x0. (All singles paused).

Notes: 310 almost went, but it didn’t. I’d put my max at around 307-308 today. I am thinking 275 opener, and then 303 2nd, then try and hit a 308 third. I am not optimistic about getting to 314 by meet day. We’ll see.

Turkey Push/Pull

Deads: 45 x10, 135 x10, 225 x5, 315 x3, 405 x1, 455 x1, 475 x1, 495 x1.

Bench: 45 x30, 135 x10, 185 x5, 225 x2, 275 x1, 285 x2, 2, 2, 225 x13.

Notes: My pre-meet schedule got all f’d up, and I didn’t get to lift for a few days. So I did this today. 495 was a grinder and was very close to today’s true max. I am hoping to eek out a few more pounds on meet day, but after squats and bench, I think hitting 500 is a long shot. We’ll see.

I’d be very thankful for a 495 DL too. very nice pulling.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Damn. Your squatting is awesome.

Personally I think you could hit a 314 or 315 bench next week. Your deadlifting looks great aswell. I’m sure you’ll do more than great at your meet.

Too bad that your training schedule got messed up, but you look strong and ready to compete.
