Banjo, the meet is Dec. 4. I couldn’t tell you what the music was, its commercial gym fare that I try and tune out. E, thanks for stopping in!
geez, don’t show up for a couple months, and everyone’s squatting huge and deep. Looking good.

Have you ever went up to the person running the gym and asked them to turn it down or off. I do this alot at my gym, however the results are less than satisfying.
MJ, thanks, I appreciate it. Scott, I don’t hear much of anything when I’m lifting so it does not bother me.
3’s day, Deads, TM 460.
Deads: 45 x10, 135 x10, 225 x5, 315 x5, 365 x3, 415 x9 (Rep Pr).
GM’s: 45 x10, 95 x5, 135 x5.
Hammy curls: 6 sets of 5.
Notes: My back still felt a little tweaky today, so I quit doing deads after the money set and did some light GMs to get a stretch. I was pretty happy with the number today, all things considered.
HELL YEAH! 415x9 for the money set! Don’t worry, Be happy!

Thanks, George, I was pretty happy with the money set. ![]()
Jumpin’ Jack: you and I are the only ones who stay up late.
That’s o’lot of DLs, there. Stop bouncing it off the floor, you pussy. Just kidding.

Those aren’t real plates. They are made out of superballs. And its still early on the left coast.

415 for 9 is “STRONG!!!”
Quirky how you rest between reps standing rather than on the ground.
What do you weigh if you don’t mind me asking?
Nice squats and deadlifts mate.

What George says! That was impressive as hell!
Thats some badassed pulling dude.
When I was watching those pulls, I just kept thinking “I wish Jack lifted in my gym.” Its really inspiring to see that much weight fly up so often.
Joe, Wilson, thanks, I appreciate it.
Farmer Brett, I’m 245 lbs. right now, I need to cut three pounds for the next meet, and then after that I would like to cut at least 22 more for the next one. I am just carrying too much fat right now. Also, I used to reset after each rep and treat them all like singles, but I have been playing around with touch-and-go on the higher rep (above 3 or 4) sets. I can get a rep or two more touch-and-go and I am liking keeping the weight in my hands the whole time.
Edit: Kimba, I just saw your post, thanks, I really appreciate that.

I was thinking that, AND I wish I lifted at Jack’s gym!!!
245? if you are over 5 feet tall, you should be lifting at 308.
just sayin
308? Hmm. We’ll see, MJ, we’ll see.
Bench Prep, 1’s Day, bench and press, TM 275, 185.
Bench: 45 x30, 95 x15, 135 x10, 185 x5, 225 x3, 265 x5, 1, 1, 1.
WG Pullups: 5, 4, 4, 3, 3.
OHP: 95 x10, 135 x5, 155 x3, 175 x 3, 1, 1, 1.
Krock Rows: 125 x 10, 10, 10, 10, 10.
Plank: A while.
Notes: I was a little disappointed with the money set and my elbows are starting to hurt. The bench singles I did afterwards were with a long pause and a hold before racking. I was fairly happy with these.
Side notes: I went to a different branch of the new gym tonight, I go there every once in a while because its near my sister’s house. For some reason this gym has a lot of “heavy” squatters. Last week I saw a guy in full comp knee raps and power-looking garb work his way up to 405 for several sets of 10 reps, complete with massive grunting and groaning and 15 minutes rest between sets and re-wrapping of the knees, and maybe–maybe–a 3 or 4 inch range of motion.
Tonight, however, there was a really tall, skinny non-english speaking asian guy with a crazy jogging suit, basketball high-tops that glowed or had lights in them, and, again, full comp knee wraps–one of them was wrapped tight and the other was half-way hanging off–and he had a super-sweet belt that appeared to be made out of some foam/stretchy material and was about as wide as a corset. He had the rack so high he had to get on his tiptoes and almost jump to get it off, and he also used the foam pussy pad. This alone was a crazy sight. He “worked” his way up to a few “singles” at 365. I was really impressed he even got the bar off the rack with that much weight and then back on without hurting himself. His “ROM” was hard to describe, but it consisted mostly of him kind of flexing and unflexing his knees and wiggling his ass a little, and then re-racking. I was apparently staring too much because he came over and with hand gestures and a big smile and a few words of broken english asked me if I was waiting for the rack. I gave him a big smile and head shake and a “no it’s all you bro.” I had the video camera in the locker, but I did not think to get it. I am pissed now, because it was freaking priceless.
Loved that story.
Yeah, it cracks me up when people are all wrapped and then have no range of motion. What’s the point? No experienced squatter has the rack set whereby he/she has to get up on tiptoes to unrack!

What I am wondering is how you even think to place the j-hooks where you have to jump to unrack, and then think its safe to unload several hundred pounds on your back. Too low, maybe I could see, but the thought of placing the hooks too high would never cross my kind. Yet I see this all the time.

I see that all the time in the commerical gym. Guys look at me like I am nuts when I am placing the hooks at chest level.
The partial knee bends are priceless. I had a guy ask me to tell him when he hit depth a while ago, again at the commerical gym. He wasn’t very happy with how deep that was:)

I bet it was like kids on a road trip: Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
