This…There are people who will put you down for something that they can’t muster up the strength and courage to do themselves.Block out that shit rattle,you should be proud of what you will and have already achieved.

Hey, maybe I can offer my two cents on this. Ive done a few castings with MH (not for the cover model comp in particular), but I have a reasonably good idea of what they look for, at least aesthetically. The number one thing to remember when casting for MH is that they arent looking for bodybuilders- coming in peeled to your bones isnt necessarily a good thing. Sure, the guys who cast for the cover are shredded, but not necessarily competition-ready shredded. The physiques they like have to be appealing to the general public and deemed “achievable”. Its always a good idea to remember youre being casted as a “model”, hence facial appearance (smile, skin, hair, facial hair) are extremely important.

From what Ive heard, having an interesting “story” is also important. They need something to write about and for you to appeal with I guess. Hope Ive been of some help!

Oh and NB, this was my condition a couple of weeks before my last casting. Didnt get it though lol.

So according to my family I am drastically smaller than any previous winner and it is pointless to enter…unreal how unsupportive some of the closest people to you can be.

Trained back last night;

Dumbbell Rows - 10k x 15reps x 3 sets
20k x 15 reps
25k x 12 reps
30k x 10 reps x 3 sets

Chins (close, medium, wide) - 8 reps x 3 sets

Chest Supported Dumbbell Rows - 10k’s - 12 reps x 4 sets SUPERSETTED with Band Face Pulls - light band - 30 reps x 4 sets

Lats and mid back were disgustingly pumped, will be training arms with chest/delts/abs after today

You are certainly not ‘drastically smaller’ than a lot of those guys… In fact, I would say you are carrying more muscle than some. Either way, muscle mass is simply not going to be a definitive factor in this kind of competition.

I say you go for it 100%. Even if you don’t win it will be a great experience- but always approach it like you CAN and want to win.

I’m psyched for you!!

Thanks, it’s hard to describe how much well wishes like yours keep me going.

man, thanks for chiming in, great to have some insight!

Looked solid in your pic, what height are you btw?

I honestly don’t think I will be contest shredded come June/July (probably low self esteem talking ha) so I’m sure I wont be too scary looking.

yeah they love a good story about overcoming adversity and I honestly dislike it but I’m considering about writing how;

I was always the skinniest/lankiest kid in class and the final straw was when I was told I was too weedy to play tennis…always hating getting any picture taken at a party or holiday and the gut dread of worrying how pathetically frail I would look when getting a tag notification on facebook. Coming up to age 18 i was just like fuck this, i’m coming to the age of being considered a man so I might as well look like one

Suffering a disc herniation in 2010/11 the same time a young friend of mine died aged 17 in a car accident the day before leaving for Uni, he was the tiniest guy ever, was 5,5" and 110lbs but came in and lifted his ass off.

Grew really close to him the time I coached and training him in my garage gym and losing him made me realise all the opportunities that are lost when someone so young dies, even simple things like lifting.

All of that compounded into me getting clinically depressed and unable to lift from my back pain for months, had to drop out of uni for a year because I just couldn’t cope with day to day life, but obviously climbed out that hole lifted my ass off (ate maybe too much), got back to Uni and started dieting for this comp!

Probably seems stupid and melodramatic to most so I wont mention it much in my application to mens health but its always a consideration, sorry for being a big queer and writing the stuff ha

Thank you so much for the encouragement, each time I read something like this it makes it all a little easier and gives me that kick in the ass I need to quit being such a soft pussy and go out and nail it!

Best of luck mate. I’ll be following your progress

This is why you will often see the advise “keep your goals to yourself” recommended. I find this is doubly true for your family. Unless the goal involves/impacts someone else specifically, its usually best to just do it without talking about it. The well of complaints runs deep, and their bucket has a LONG rope. “You’re too big” “You’re too small” “You don’t want to eat your moms cooking?” “Just live a little” “You’re ‘skinny’ enough already” etc…

Ironically, the only people who usually care about your goals are people you are furthest away from emotionally (like us here on the forum, or your gym buddies)

No problem man! In that picture (last year) i was about 85kg at 5’11.

The story thing is important, however my interpretation of it is that its a platform by which you can show youre unique in one way- be it through current lifestyle, training concepts etc. Looking great in your pictures too! Youre most definitely on track.

Thanks man, I made sure to make the most of my cheats since you are missing yours :wink:

Went for variety of stuff just cause I was gutted at how untrained I look haha and in all honesty I dont think a cheat night will damage my progress

Started with chocolate protein oats with honey, then had roast beef and all trimmings with a pizza then a chocolate gateau and just munching on cheap candy the now!
