Rattlehead's Virgin Contest Prep Thread

Dude, you’ve only got a little more than 9 weeks, that’s not enough time.

To grow the stubble, I mean.

j/k, good luck, I’ll be following.[/quote]

Thanks man.

And I forgot to mention in the diet part, once a week I have a carb refeed and a cheat meal

For an idea of what I started from this is me at 17 about 6 months before I started lifting.

Used to be so embarrassed that I weighed under 140lbs.

Looks like your in damn good shape for this, I came from a similar skinny guy background.
Just a thought, but it may be worth it to start tanning and taking pictures under different situations ie pumped, unpumped carbs/ no carbs etc. that way you have a good idea of ideal conditions for the final “shoot”.

The thread title gets cut off until you click it and reads as “Rattlehead’s Virgin Cont” which I read as “Rattlehead’s Virgin Count” and assumed it was some sort of tally of V-cards you’ve nabbed. A bit disappointed, gotta be said, but great thread nonetheless. Your profile pic is the best one so far imo; very well done.

First, stop freaking out. You are like 5-7 pounds away from being in that kind of leanness… Especially in the right lighting. Most people do not realize the MASSIVE difference lighting can make. If you can, find a mirror with the light above your head and try and cast shadows, then take a picture. The camera flash is the enemy of teh hawt abz.

I’ll address some of the points I didnt see answered

-Will I be lean enough come June?

You are almost lean enough already. If you follow the Get Shredded Diet for a few weeks you should have that crispness you are after no problem at all.

-Will I be “too” lean for this style of comp come June?

Doubtful. A lot of leanness can be “hidden” or emphasized in pics by simply flexing or relaxing. You probably already do this now in the mirror, but try it anyway. Stand in the mirror TOTALLY relaxed… Then flex like a mad man. See the difference?

-How do I hold onto conditioning over a span of maybe 2-3 weeks?

Just keep everything the same. Once you hit where you want to be, take note of the amount of lifting/cardio/food and just hold the numbers steady

How do I peak twice carb and water wise?

  • I dont think this is the kind of thing that is going to require carb/water peaking. You might not even be lean enough for it to matter

Great idea regarding different circumstances and situations! The difference btween my avi and bathroom shot shows why I should be doing that, thanks.

A bit awkward now tho cause this is me with over 2 months of tanning…dem scottish genetics.

Attached a pic of the 2011 winner, do you not think he would have done any manipulation at all?

Would it be a good idea to try and go to the competition day being ridiculously shredded with manipulation done? Just to try and have something to stand out from the others?

And i really do need to stop freaking out thanks, i’m just in alert mode with exams and this ha

If you are referring to in general lifting terms, yeah I am way too skinny and obviously where I am right now is not my end goal.

But did you mean in terms of the comp? I don’t think im big by any standards (hence why I wanna stand out with conditioning) but christ the first winner I put up is skinny!

I thought I would catch more attention with virgin in the title haha and thanks for the kind words

I don’t want to sound dickish but honestly you don’t look like you fit the pretty boy mold of those previous winners.

You face looks too average… no offense.

I’d hush up about that, incase Orion’s virgin-sense starts tingling and this thread gets led down a bumpy dirt road.

No offence taken whatsoever my friend  i completely agree!

Also, since I didn’t start this thread from the very start here is a progress pic of previous weeks

BUT

I feel I can make myself look pretty boyish enough for this comp

You could try the manipulation if you want, it isnt going to hurt. I just dont think you have the size/leanness for it to be DRAMATIC like it can be. Plus is only lasts a brief time. If you are going somewhere for an all day shoot, the effects will be lost over the course of the day.

I know guys who walk around leaner/bigger than the guy you posted every single day of the year, no water manipulation necessary.

Awesome, I would rather not do it because I will most likely have to get a 4 am bus to London and I cant be fucked with any added stress!

Leanness isn’t the problem I think. All past winners seem to have similar chest size+shape that you lack. Typical male fitness look I guess.

However, I say you should definitely give it a go.

Yeah I agree, and thanks for the encourage.

It is important to note that the top 5 are picked by judges from the 15 but the overall winner is done by public vote.

Also, I would be happy with top 15 as you still get coverage in the magazine.

What are the stats of some past competitors…Height and weight? 6’1" 155-160 seems pretty thin. Do most of these guys have close to the same stats as you?

All I have is pics I’m afraid
