Rattlehead's Virgin Contest Prep Thread

If I had stopped reading on page 1 I would say you don’t have a chance in hell. But you made some good progress between then and now. Are you only tanning in the beds or will you spray for the final photos you submit? If you can find the right shade that is not too dark it will REALLY help. Be careful flexing too much. Even when you are doing your semi-side pose you are flexing. The evidence of straining (flexing) is not good for these photos. Let the pump, water manipulation, and carbs take care of looking full and vascular. Good article here for the last few days before the final photos Shredded in 6 Days

Also, your boy Wolverine detailed his diet recently and he was doing IF. Check it out Hugh Jackman Reveals: It Takes a Lot of Chicken to Become Wolverine

You really have to get the lighting tuned in for those final photos too. Someone earlier mentioned the overhead lighting. It is the best. For example, stand under a ceiling fan that has lighting and look at your self in a mirror. The shadows will make your muscles pop more. I am torn on the beard. I think that a small amount of growth gives you a better look but too much is bad. Let your hair stay a little messy too. If you haven’t done this already, spend a day taking a ton of photos with different combos of pose, lighting, expressions, etc.

Good luck man!

I agree.

Honestly, it might be worth your time to see if you can find a few girls to help you out with the “look” for your face/hair/beard. Not sure what you have to work with resource-wise, but I’d go with a young (under 35) sales clerk at an upper end clothing store, like say a BCBG, and/or a well-dressed attractive hair stylist at some salon, and/or some girl working a higher end makeup counter at a department store for opinions. They’re all used to looking at people and figuring out how to make them look better, so their opinions should be pretty valid.

If they think you’d look more attractive with your hair styled a certain way, or your beard trimmed differently, or whatever, I’d listen to their advice. Just let them know that you’re trying for this cover model look, and they should be able to help.

This looks great. I think if your upper torso just a TAD more to the camera, though, you can get more of your chest in (which is good), a better angle of your arms to show your biceps, and give the illusion of a smaller waist if you keep the hips where they are now.

Hope that makes sense bro. Good luck!
thanks dude

will gee it a bash, as well as pull my right should back a bit also
…and flare the right lat after you pull the shoulder back.

Man, thanks for taking the time for writing such an in depth response! Aaaand thank you for the well wishes, of course. (also cheers for the wolverine link, it was funny cause when I started dieting in winter I began by intermittent fasting, the only time I’ve made a diet choice similar to hugh jackman without actually knowing it haha)

I’m currently only doing beds, a little bit afraid of spray incase it turns out shit?

I have been experimenting with different lighting and stuff, so far my garage has been used the most but its incredibly harsh, almost porno lighting and really washes me out. seems my bathroom lighting at night is without a doubt the best, will experiment with some pics in there.

Regarding water and carb manipulation, what are peoples thoughts again on me doing it for the entry pictures?

Should I do it or not? Say I set the date for 15th July when I will take final pics should I follow the 6 days until shredded for that?

If I pick that date it gives me 6 weeks exactly for final diet/ training preps, haircuts, stuble and tanning shit as well and then 6 days to deplete and restore.

man this thread has gotten me convinced to do a few weeks of the Get Shredded Diet.

Sound advice, I’m gonna go to my old hairdresser (young bimbo kinda girl) and ask her what will work best for me hair and beard wise since she will be kinda in the know of looks trendy in general.

All is well in Rattlehead Land.

Feeling more and more motivated as the days go by, workouts are good, cardio everyday is good, steamed chicken is delicious and I’m feeling good overall.

Ran out of HOT-ROX on Sunday, so that’s a bummer. Started to have coffee now tho to make up the caffeine difference and I have a tub of Carbolin 19 to use.

Edit: Hopefully you can see the f-ing pic

Workouts are going a bit muddled the now, with some strength being done in the morning and some just done with my PM session.

Saturday Update

Weight today was 164.2lbs.

Took some pics today after cardio and my 2nd chest workout (ate some cake for exam celebration so I thought I would take advantage of the carbs and do a pump up).

WIll attach those pics as well as the pics I took on Wednesday to get an idea of different situations, poses, angles, facial hair and pumps etc.

Thursday’s Workout

AM- Front Squat - 70k x 5, 80k x 3, 90k x 1
Hamstring Curls - LIght band 20reps x 8 sets

Walking Lunges - 50metres x 4

Friday Workout

AM - 20 mins LISS

PM - Arm workout, just did the same workout as last time and went a little bit lighter and really went for a crushing pump.

Saturday Workout

AM - 45 mins LISS

PM - Incline Bbell - 30k x 15, 35k x 15, 40k x 15, 45k x 15, 50k x 15
Single Arm Decline Bench - 16k x 15-20 x 6 sets
Stretch Pushups - 4 sets to failure

Wednesday Pics

 1. I need to pull my scapula back and role my hips forward for the front facing pose (like sat’s pics) and avoid crunching my abs.
 2. Pics were taking by a friend, facial posing is a lot more natural when its someone taking a picture compared to just a vid.
 3. LIghting was top down from the garage light.

Saturday Pictures

 1. I need way more facial hair than just a little bit of stubble, I look too much like the robot from Prometheus otherwise. Will trim my beard shorter than it is on the Wednesday pics
 2. I suck balls at facial posing with the vid, i dont know why.
 3. The little bit of carbs definitely makes me look fuller (DUH)

I will definitely go with getting pics taking by someone us rather doing the vid myself, way too awkward looking myself.

those wednesday pics look really good, your shoulders in particular look really round and full

Since the pictures are to be submitted in a couple of weeks, are you planning to start tanning in the next couples of days? I really think that would only help to enhance your look.

That IS a tanned Scotsman

EDIT: Just realized that that was my first post in this thread despite following it from page one, and it came off as a bit negative.

Looking good in the current shots, and you’ve got plenty of time to build on the solid base you’ve already built before the competition

This thread is very inspirational and a good read.

Good luck Rattlehead with the MH comp
