Thank you, Taufiq; I joined the forum.
Kick, I need to buy a new digital camera.
Thanks for the compliment on my Leatherface costume.
I have a question, hopefully someone has an answer. What is the procedure when coming off the diet?
ramping up calories and carbs little by little?

He has an entire section in the book on transitioning to a lifestyle diet.
Buy the book.
I followed it for 5 weeks; it ended last week. I wanted to do 6, but was mentally fried.
I want to give it one more 4-week run to get rid of the last pounds of flubber I want off me; I’m doing a T-Dawg Diet in between; but my carb limit is not 100 grams per day; it’s closer to 150 grams because I’m having two pieces of fruit per day, a serving of oatmeal in the morning, a serving of yogurt, and a small amount of beans. So, the T-Dawg diet with 50 more grams of carbs.
This is NOT what Lyle suggests in the book, but what I feel is the best for me.
People, the book is a measly 35 bucks! That’s 35 bucks for a SHITLOAD of useful information, not only on the RFL diet, but on refeeds, cheat meals, metabolism, weight control, and nutritional biochemistry.
Check the table of contents at his site.
35 bucks is less than what typical Joe Blow blows on shit drinks and a meal on a Saturday night! In some cases, MUCH LESS!
So shell out the damn 35 bucks, learn a ton about nutrition and weight control, do the diet, and save yourself the energy of having to constantly play catch up with info from people who bought it!
35 bucks is 4 to 6 hours of work the lowest skilled jobs on earth: toothpaste stacking at Duane Reade, greaseburger flipping at McD’s, folding clothes at the GAP, and busing tables.

Buy the book if you really want to know. Lyle has a pretty basic and logical approach to the transition.

If I remember correctly, there are two approaches:
The disadvantage is of course it’s very easy to go overboard with the food intake and a lot of people feel bloated from the sudden increase in calories and carbs.

Taufiq, thanks for contributing so much to this thread and actually demonstrating some god-damned intelligence on this site; something that many grown adults on here can’t do, apparently.
But don’t you think we should withhold at least SOME information on books that people like Lyle are earning some of their income from?
It’s not even worth answering guys who won’t spend $35 on the book.
It’s been my experience that guys who won’t spend money on the information are the ones who get the least success out of a diet - and life in general.
More broadly: People who don’t see the value in information are typically losers.

Oops, sorry, I didn’t realise I gave out too much info there. That wasn’t exactly from the book, I gave mine to a friend, it’s just from my (bad) memory. Hopefully I didn’t stop others from buying the book. To those who are interested in doing the diet, please buy the book as it covers much more than the stuffs that we discussed here. Try not to second guess the structure of the diet as you might not get the optimum result possible, or worse, lose mostly muscle instead of fat.
But seriously, lets get back to the real meat and potatoes here. RFL > VD.
I’m reading the book now and plan to finish it tonight.
Bricknyce now I know exactly what you meant on the other thread. I do apologize for not understanding what you meant and acting like a know it all.
I plan on starting the diet tomorrow or Friday. I think I’m between 10-15%b.f so ill be doing it as a category 1 dieter. It’s going to be tough since I have OLY-lifting practices and soccer but it’s only 2 weeks since I’m only around 170lbs so I should be fine. Hopefully I’ll be able to fit my carb-up/cheat meal the day of a soccer match or something but I haven’t gotten to that chapter of the book so I’ll shut up now.
Be back later.
good job Brick and thanks for the thread.

It’s OK, Ronaldo.
I don’t know what thread you’re speaking of though; I don’t recall you acting like a know-it-all.
I don’t think this diet is a good idea to do in-season. Offseason? Yes.

The one where the OP wanted to lose fat as fast as possible with low carb.
I agree with you, I was really exited about trying the Rapid Fat Loss Diet(I did the V-Diet back in 2008 with great results) but with all the soccer, Oly-Lifting I might lose way to much muscle which is never good even if I’m no Bodybuilder.
I was actually okay with losing a little bit of muscle but with soccer 2-4 times per week plus at least 3 days of Oly-lifting I think I can lose lots of fat while keeping the protein high and the calories a bit bellow maintenance. So yes off-season would be better I guess. Maybe I can even try a few days of the diet on “off days” and see how it goes but honestly I don’t even know if I’ll have an off day in a while.
Good thread anyways and very good book.

Edit: Double post.
Hey Brick,
Nice thread.
I tried the V-Diet for the 3rd time and lasted only 1 week, about April 4th to the 11th. I went crazy only drinking liquid meals. Gus was the man for being able to stick to the V-Diet for 4 weeks. Heck, anyone who completes the V-Diet gets my ultimate respect.
Now the reason I failed the V-Diet was because I need to eat something. So I started Lyles RFL diet. I started April 19th and plan on going til May 30th, for a total of 6weeks.
For that 1 week layoff, I used lame excuses like I have to get my hormones back together, yada, yada, yada, and every other excuse to over-eat you can think of, and went to 206.
I changed the workout recommendations of Lyle to fit my schedule. By the way, Lyle recommends only 2 sessions a week because of the low calories. So my workout went:
Monday-Heaavy day, with 5 hr REFEED
Wednesday-KB circuit of 5 exercises (quad, hip, core, push, and pull) using 24kg and 28kg KB
Friday-Metabolic pairings, with FREE MEAL
Eating vegetables and having the refeed and free meals, are the only reasons I can survive on this diet.
I haven’t felt worn down, and all my lifts have not went down. If I do start to get tired, I’ll take out the KB day.
So, 206, 21.3%bf on April 19th. I’m currently 190 and hoping for at least 17% on May 29th when I check by bf%.
Bricknyce: Have you read “The Stubborn Fat Loss Solution?” What did you think of it?
I’ve used the stubborn fat protocol but haven’t read the whole book.
