Yeah, you need some sort of education, try going back to school - your a moron. WTF are you talking about? Read through what i’ve wrote before answering.

You’re the moron. First, I’m in college idiot! Second, I’ve read all of your garbage.

It didn’t make any sense the first time or the second. White kids don’t have to act “white” whatever that means. I’m still waiting on your “white/black” definition.

Yes, it’s stupid when ANY kid acts “hard,” or let me clarify what that word means for you since it’s too “street/slang” for you it means somebody is tough or trying to act tough. That is annoying when any young kid acts like that regardless of race. You’re an ignorant fool that believes white kids and black kids have to act a certain way.

How/when/why did you formulate these stereotypical beliefs?

Oh sorry college boy, I bow to your intellectual superiority, as we all know American college education is top knotch. yawn!. I’m also sorry for obviously undermining your whole FAKE belief system, about how your black (or a wanna be). And if you had bothered to read my post and actually tried to understand what I had written, you’d have realised I was primarily talking about MIDDLE CLASS white kids (more so).

Maybe the average white American kid these days can only ‘fit in’, by being a pretentious twat, with no cultural standing. And maybe Black culture has taken over in your country. But over here in the UK, shit’s a bit different. Blacks are black and whites are white, UK hip hop has died, and American hip hop is slowly dying. The only people who buy that shit are 14 year olds. I never said whites can’t listen to rap/hip hop ever - it’s just the adoption of the whole black image that’s fucking pathetic.

This deffination you keep talking of - I’m talking about how black people invent something stupid like, wearing the price tag on your base ball cap, wearing odd shoes, rolling your trouser leg up, saying “sup ya’ll”, calling women bitches. A few weeks later you’ll see some stupid white kid with his trousers down by his knees, with, a price tag on his base ball cap, his trouser leg roled up, wearing odd shoes, calling women bitches etc etc etc etc. ( Do you get the idea college boy or do you want me to break it down for your feeble mind a bit more?)

It’s just down right emulation, and the kind of copying that if I saw a black person dressed like Elvis Presly, and talking like him, i’d think “wow that’s a bit lame”. And ironically, it doesn’t happen, as it seems black people have a bit more pride. And you have the ordacity to call me ignorant you fag.

And the funny thing is, I’m not the only person to say this, my black friends say it to. If I started to act all black to my black friends and dress like them I’d get disowned, as I’d be embarrasing them and me.

Don’t get me wrong people can be what they want to be and I have nothing against black people, but, I can think what I want to think to, and I think wiggers are fucking sad.
First of all, I only mentioned the fact that I’m going to college because you stated that “I needed to go back to school.” Well I’m already in school dickhead.

If you want to debate and run your fucking mouth then learn how to fucking spell and write properly. When you are trying to say “you are” it’s supposed to be “you’re” not “your” dumbass.

I DID read your weak post and I don’t care if it says middle class, upper class white kids or not. That’s irrelevant really. The issue is that you are saying that white people in general have to act a certain way which is termed “white” and I want YOU to clearly define what that is for me. So you are saying that ALL black people say “wusup y’all and call women bitches?” You really are a damn idiot.

Why are you assuming “black culture” has taken over in America? Because Hip hop is so popular? I guess when the Beastie Boys were helping make hip hop popular in the 1980’s then they were acting black too since white people can’t do those things? It’s popular world wide asshole and the reason I know that is because I’ve been all over the world in the military including England. So what do you listen to, house and techno music Mr. Cool guy. Are those the socially acceptable forms of music for white people? Aside from hip hop, many people from the South (white and black) talk very similar due to accents, background, etc. So are you referring to slang and culture?

Define “black image” for us all. YOU are the feeble minded fuck who is a racist. Are you so fucking stupid to think only black people call women bitches and wear ball caps a certain way? You are truly a fucking idiot.

You ARE ignorant. Fag? What a creative insult to use you fucking moron. What the fuck does Elvis have to do with anything?

I think YOU are sad and even saying the word “wigger” is very disrespectful to everybody, blacks and whites.

Is an educated, wealthy black man who speaks proper English a “wanna be” white yuppie? Why? Because dumb fucks like you want people to belong in categories.

Step off asshole and get off of your “wigger” kick. It’s beginning to bore me.

How can an observation be a stereotype? So your denying that this actually takes place? Or are you simply using words that you assume are relivent and intellectual sounding to back up your claim that your in college? i.e. ‘stereotype’. Is going to college unusual in yank land?, as going to college in the UK doesn’t mean your clever atall, as 90% of people goto college in the UK. And doesn’t really get you anywhere.

ster?e?o?type Pronunciation (str–tp, st?r-)
n.
One that is regarded as embodying or conforming to a set image or type.

You could say that these people are conforming to a ‘stereotype’, and all I’ve done is made an observation of their conformist ways.

Quite simple really!

I found a photo of you BPC under the term wigger.
http://media.urbandictionary.com/image/large/wigger-15344.jpg
Hello McFly! Is anybody home up there in that fucking head of yours? Wake up bitch!

When one observation becomes the norm for everybody then that definitely means you are “stereotyping” and racial profiling races. YOU are doing just that you bufoon.

Photo of me? You really are obsessed with this word “wigger” aren’t you? It must make you feel tough saying it or something. Are you one of those tough “internet” guys. Ooooooo I’m scared of you. Get the fuck out of here you simpleton.

Why do you keep talking about the differences between the UK and America? That’s not even the damn issue being discussed. I could care less how many people in the UK go to college.

The original discussion was about how some white kids in the United States (make a note to yourself “college boy”: not the UK) act “black” by doing certain things. I merely asked what acting “black” consisted of and still haven’t heard a solid definition.

I’ll be waiting for your clever response because I can always use a good laugh. Until you can put together some half-way intelligent arguments then shut the fuck up!

I apologize, I’m also a “yank” in college that needs education. I for one think culture is culture, some people are going to find one attractive and submerge themselves in it. I agree with you on people having their own opinions. I hate middle class white boys pretending they have to hustle to get by in life and there for find it necessary to act “hard” to survive in the streets. Actually, this applies to all races, asians, hispanic and blacks as well. Posers are posers.

I just don’t agree with your view of “blacks are black and whites are white”. Could you clarify or is this just simply a racist comment? For example, if a black person who is not a gangster and becomes CEO of a fortune 500 comapny, is he not acting “black”? Just curious.

Hating a races culture - is that racist? Fuck knows, you tell me. Anyway, I don’t care any more. I’m not saying anymore to you gangsters. Except - stop acting/talking like 50 cent it’s pathetic. I’ve just realised black culture is more previlent over in America…I feel sorry for you all.

Like I said before I have black friends, of which I get on very well with, and they know I hate hip hop and the hole “i’m a gangster” bullshit.

That’s all i’m saying I have better things to do.
Again you are showing your ignorance. Stop posting here because you know nothing about what you are talking about. “Gangsta rap” is only a portion of Hip Hop. Learn the difference shithead.

You feel sorry for America because we are dominated by black culture? What the fuck??? Damn you are a racist mutherfucker.

Bye bye you racist asshole!

And when I say black image, i mean this black hip hop bullshit that pollutes the airways 24/7.
Somebody wrote

Just find something you like because of the way it sounds, not because of the genre
Nicely put.

I am a musician and I listen to music all over the board.

It seems unnecessary for people to argue about what genre in which a piece of music may be classified. I really hate the word genre because it reminds me of the mindless crap MTV puts out and their attempts to classify it. I agree with the poster above when he said that if you judge an entire type of music based on what you see on TV and swear it off altogether, you are doing yourself a disservice.

It is also very bothersome to see people classify themselves based on a type of music. Why would you limit yourself upon what someone else has already established for themselves? If you are really into it, great, just don’t become a mindless follower. Feel free to explore outside the realms of which you may have previously been enveloped. It is good to do this, trust me.

I am predominately a metal guitarist but, hey, I have invited rappers over and we made great music. Music is about music, not about style, race or anything else. It is an art, so if you don’t like it, that is your choice. It makes sense for me that when people argue about music/art/politics/whatever that a realization is made that “I don’t agree because it just doesn’t appeal to me.”

People used to tell me I talked “White” all the time, and they were always Black. Yeah, they were ignorant. So what. There is no way any race is “supposed” to act. But if you grew up learning proper English, and speaking that way, then next month you are dressed in clothes two sizes too big with a sideways hat, and saying “Yo-yo,yo, what’s up in dis’ heezy?,” people are going to say you are “acting Black.”
Most black people DON’T talk or act like that… however many Black Americans do.

By-and-large black people don’t talk like that in England, Africa or the Carribean.

Heck, I’m Black and I don’t talk like that.

So it’s not a matter just trying to “act black” it’s trying to act like something that you aren’t; purposely affecting your speach and mannerisms just to seem cool.

On the other hand, lots of white people hang-out and grew-up with black people who speak in slang. So if they talk in ebonics or acquire a “ghetto accent” it’s not like they’re trying “act black”… they’re just talking.

Great points! You are EXACTLY right. People are just different.

There is no “set white dialect” and a set “black dialect.” I know plenty of black guys who don’t speak “ebonics.” Does that mean they are somehow trying to act “white?” Of course not.

I absolutly hate it, and the way it’s made millions of ‘people’ all round the world think they’re gangsters. I don’t understand how people can listen to it. It’s embarrasing to see white kids trying to reinact that lame player bullshit, with their caps on thinking they own the streets. When I see people with their windows down playing 50 cent it makes me cringe.

I personally think it has a negative affect on the world, and imbodies a crass materialism that has negative role models and unrealistic lifestyles, that kids/adults aspire to. And because it’s supposed to be street, and these kids/adult listeners are usually very poor, having your role models pushing their gold chains, women, cars in your face 24/7 can’t be good, especailly as they usually have no way to attain that kind of money, other than robbing, drugs etc etc.

My thoughts - it’s pathetic, and full of pretentious bollocks.

YOU are the pretentious bollock!

50 cent doesn’t even come close to representing all of Hip Hop. You seem to be ignorant of the fact that: some hip hop has a positive message and maybe you are just jealous of the fact that these people are rich. Let’s not forget that hip hop is a form of music and entertainment.

Can a black person listen to country music or rock? According to you, no! That says a lot about you prick!

right mate I’m gunna come clean…I’m sat here with my black mate, trying to wind you up. Sorry, we’re bored, it’s 10pm, we’re here till 1am (work that is), and we thought we’d try and push someones buttons.

What exactly are you and this “black mate” doing together at 10pm? Working? Suuuuuuurrrreeee you are.

Well thanks for “pushing the buttons” because I love shutting down little suckers like you! AAAAAAAAAAAAhaahahahahahahahhahahah.

You lost bitch!

I suppose I should apologize since it seems like my “chav” comment initiated this whole black-white thing.

That wasn’t my intention. I was trying to express my dislike toward kids who are just faking it, posing, if you will.

BPC, dude you need to take a breath, you just typed yourself into a corner where no one is going to take you seriously. You might have had a point, but I lost it somewhere inbetween your obvious urge to pick a fight and the succession of “F” bombs pointed at K-lifter.

His “go back to school” comment, the way I interpreted it, meant for you to take a second or two and come back with a strong counterpoint rather than hop into the ring throwing haymakers with no real goal other than to fill the air with verbal fists.

You remind me of one of those guys standing in the quad on a bench yelling to everyone passing by, saying they’re going to hell for sins of the flesh and greed. It might be a decent message, but the delivery is so obtuse it becomes fodder for jokes and ridicule.

Take it easy,

B.

I made my point already and then, it got kind of funny to me. What can I say?

While I agree with some of your aformentioned artists based on lyrical skill, or lack thereof, lyrical content and misogyny aside, I think Luda can “spit” with the best of 'em. So can Cassidy and Kanye and T.I. on a good day. I know they aren’t as good on the mic as the “hip-hop” artists you mentioned, but who is?

That is my point. Nowadays, you don’t have to be able to “spit” well on the mike to make money in this industry anymore. If the artists that you mention have this ability, why hasn’t that been fully showcased before? It’s because “hip-hop” doesn’t make the money like “rap” does. I’ve listened to every one of the artists that you mentioned having the ability to flow and I haven’t seen it to the level to compare them to the ones I mentioned as hip-hop artists. You even said that this is true. In this day and age it is not needed to be successful anymore.

I’m not trying to argue with you. I am just pointing out that this slight difference makes a difference to those of us who have followed hip-hop from its beginings. I know that it is a snobbish mentality, but it is no worse than the one that classical jazz aficionados have against modern jazz.

And I don’t really have a problem with the “rap\hip-hop speak” or white people using it. Granted if you grew up in the suburbs (white or black), or you’re in a job interview or talking to someone where you have to give the impression of being somewhat intelligent, speak correct English. I think a lot of this “slang” is perpetuated by people who refuse\need to grow the fuck up.

My 2 cents…

(Soapbox time!)
I have a real problem with this, not just because white kids are doing it, but with the fact that it loses it authenticity when people that normally wouldn’t speak like that, start speaking like that. It sounds phony, forced and just plain stupid. I don’t care what color you are, if its not real, don’t do it.

Also, even if it is real, learn that there is a time and place for everything and that, in many places, you can be perceived as being ignorant and stupid. I tend to not do it as much because I am educated, older and am in an environment where it is not wise or necessary to use it. I teach my kids to speak correctly as well so they will be taken seriously and won’t be perceived as being ignorant. I was young once (if you ask my wife, she’ll tell you that I never really grew up! LOL!) and I understand the what fors and whys, but I also understand reality. Reality dictates that this manner of speaking can hurt you if this is all you can do.
(Soapbox time over!)
I agree wholeheartedly with what you just wrote; which is pretty much an elaboration on what I wrote  .

Well then what constitutes “real” hip-hop? I’m not trying to argue or anything just want some clarification. I know A LOT of mainstream rappers can’t get with the likes of Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli lyrically, but there are a few that can who don’t necessarily get the “props” they deserve as an emcee because of their “mainstream” appeal.

“Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugar Hill Gang is seen by many as what hip-hop was about, or the forefathers of the genre. Yet if you dissect it literally it’s no different than a lot of the “hip-pop” that’s on the airwaves today, minus the gold teeth (my goodness is that fuckin’ stupid), profanity, and half-dressed women.

And on the topic of women, why are they absolved of all responsibility in these videos. You can’t expect the rappers to have much respect for them if they don’t have enough respect for themselves as women not to convey themselves as sex objects. What’s so different about a rapper making a video with half-naked women, and Hugh Heffner mass-producing media with NAKED women?

And I’m glad the distinction was made between Black-Americans and other blacks. Some of the most eloquent and intelligent people I’ve met have been from Africa…

Man I wonder if I asked about liking rock music, would I get this much of a reaction?

About the difference between rap and hip hop. KRS-ONE said it best, “Rap is something you do. Hip Hop is something you live.”
