The same daughter you don’t want to be allowed to vote in a few years ?
You lost me there.
Yes.
I understand the urge to be apolitical and I was for a long time, but it is absurd to suggest some kind of functional equivalence between Democrats and Republicans.
In reality there are two fundamentally different political ideologies with significant, observable differences in policy. Political parties are actual organizations consisting of actual people. They are very real and potentially very dangerous.
I don’t begrudge anyone not being interested in politics or having other priorities in life, but political apathy isn’t the flex you think it is.
Politics can make or break a community. Sitting on the sidelines and pretending that you are somehow above the fray is a recipe for radicalization when enough people do it.
Why shouldn’t she be allowed to vote ?
If men are unable to vote if they don’t “volunteer” for the selective service, women should not be able to vote without doing so, either.
I don’t want any woman to be forced to endure the inhumanities that a female POW would have to endure. Maybe you’re okay with that, but I’m not.
So they should not be allowed to vote.
Sure I am, I hit a new 20rep PR in pressing today, I’m less weak and I’m less fat.
Why can’t you just be a good sport.
You seem very negative, sad stuff. But I don’t care, you will remain aynonomous.
You are probably just an average guy looking at other men on this board that you want to be like. You see me as not being as good as them so you have nothing good to say. Sums you up totally until you prove otherwise.
Traps don’t really benefit from stretch though… likely the isometric contraction. Either way I just love carrying heavy shit
That’s quite the caveat there. It sounds like you are much more against forced conscription then women voting
Might your position be better stated that compulsory military service should not be a requirement to vote, or do I not understand you?
Put another way, if that were not a requirement for men to vote you would be perfectly fine with women voting ?
Are women military service members allowed to vote under the current frame work ?
Why can’t you be a better troll?
They don’t have to pay taxes either.
Yes.
But these crusty old warmonger fucks in office will never get rid of their power to send young men off to wars to kill other young men.
I’m not sure I’m following.
I imagine they would talking about “no taxation without representation”, which removing someone’s ability to vote seems to be a good example of
I certainly agree with the last part of your statement.
I’m not sure how stripping women of the right to vote based on that single issue addresses that, but I at least understand your position much better now. Not something I would vote for to change myself though, but admittedly I’ve only spent about 3 minutes thinking about it
You’re probably right.
The other side of the coin (that we never talk about) is that without having to be conscripted, they are represented without the burden of taxation.
Why should I be allowed to vote for something that radically affects YOUR life, but will never affect mine?
I’m certainly not apolitical–I’m anti-political. I would take exception to a few other things your post, namely that it’s all entirely theoretical and there seems to be alot of projecting, particularly about me “flexing” or feeling “above the fray.” I actually have very strong opinions about politics and the dangers of it in a practical sense, so would never consider myself outside of it, if that makes sense.
It doesn’t make sense to me, no. What could anti politics possibly mean? Are you an anarchist?
It means I’m strongly opposed to the current two party governmental and cultural political structure, as well the voting system. I am not opposed to it in theory, just what it has become in practice. I am not anarchist. I would just prefer a no party government, or at the very least 4 or more parties.
Well I have good news for you. There are many different political parties in the USA. There is no codification of a two party system.
It sounds to me like you just have normal issues with how people in politics conduct themselves.
Besides, a two party system, for all of its flaws, has prevented WWIII so far. Political fracturing along more and more parties is a recipe for radicals. Just look at Europe.
