I’m still centrist. Well sort of… Used to be left, then went over to the middle, then centre left, then middle, now centre right after oct 7 attacks.
I just took the political compass test, I take it once every year or two. I’ve observed a trend
I’ve become less left wing and less libertarian. This test isn’t perfect, and I don’t consider myself to have an authoritarian slant by any means (as this test hints I now do)
I consider myself to be a fucked up mish mash. Socially conservative with a few liberal views, but generally not the far-out bullshit. I can’t align with conservatism nowadays as many conservatives also rail against… literally science… preferring anecdote or conspiracy theories. I’ve always been a man of science, also reflected in my studies…
Ten years ago I’d have still probably aligned myself with the left IF the left hadn’t lost the plot with identity politics, undermining the nuclear familial dynamic and pushing fringe bullshit like polycubes, pornography as a viable career path. I can’t help but feel some of these people have virtue complexes… like my they/them pansexual, homosexual family member who is a rabid supporter of Palestine going as far as to spin a narrative of shitting on Israel when Israel killed Yahya Sinwar… and I was like “Women are animals created by allah for the use of men” (quote by one of the ayahtollahs). How does this align with fourth wave feminism?
“We want all the support we can get, except for those homosexuals! They should be put to death!”
I don’t think she believes me when I say if she was to step FOOT in Gaza OR the west bank with a nice pride flag t-shirt she wouldn’t live to see another day.
If I were in America for this upcoming election, I think I genuinely would spoil my vote. I’m a huge proponent of voting and generally believe not voting is problematic… Not voting to me signifies you care so little about your country you’d rather sit back and wait for anything to happen.
We need an age limit for president… Older than 75? You are out
With the views my generation tends to have I worry about the future of the west. Past generations started to moderate when they got to my age… But nowadays the BS so many colleges preach? It’s scary… Paving the way for an incredibly dysfunctional future.
I can’t call myself a conservative, nor am I an independent… I don’t know what I am. If someone put a gun to my head I’d say I’m right wing now, but I can’t properly relate to most right wingers
