I really want to start Defranco’s tricep/bench cycle that focuses on lockout power. The first two weeks the ME exercise is rack lockouts. I work out at a commercial gym and don’t have access to a power rack. The squat rack at the gym does have adjustable pin heights though. Could I just lay on the floor and adjust the pin heights accordingly, or do rack lockouts need to be done specifically from a bench?
It really depends on how “high” the lockouts are; if these lockouts are prescribed just a few inches above your chest then they cannot be performed from the floor.
you could use a regular bench and just lower the bar a short distance maybe
Why not do something like a board press…you’ll lose some power off of your bench by not having your feet planted like in a regular bench…
Board presses would be a good substitute
why not drag a bench into the squat rack?
this would be a good time to ask my question: How can someone do a board press if they workout alone?
You could use a mini band to hold the board in place or put it under your shirt.
