Race to 600 Squat and DL

I’m no where near in the squat current best is only 425lbs. The deadlift how ever I just broke 505lbs last Thursday so I think I am going to jump in here.

around 525 right now, tore my hamstring on the weekend, but will soon be back up again

Huh? I was under the impression that a torn hamstring wasn’t something that you recovery from quickly.

Count me in. Currently at 475/500, in competition.

the degree of the tear and “special” help makes the healing time a bit shorter

Im in on this, low 5’s on both lifts right now.

I would like to think I will attain both again by the summer. Some old injuries work related and sports related take a toll on a 40 year old body! lol I injured myself playing semi pro football in 2009, and became a chicken shit with anything to do with my neck or back…until recently. I am definately not pulling or squatting in the 600lb range right now, but low 500’s isn’t bad.

Officially squatted 600 in competition last weekend. Missed a 605 pull. I squatted 615 in the gym, but royally fucked up my weight cut the day before (cut 15 lbs, but wasn’t at weight until 6pm the night before) and could only squeeze out 600 on meet day. Forgot I was on this thread, but glad I found it again! Good luck everyone.

I’m officially putting my name in to reach 600lbs before my birthday in August.
today I pulled 500x4 AFTER my regular work sets because I was feeling really good.
*note: the 4th rep was not a drop…I threw the weight down because I got a little too excited. Shit happens.

Why do you rebreath at the top of the lift instead of resetting in the bottom. Not criticing your stronger than me at least sumo but if I tried to rebreath at lockout I believe I would pass out.

I try to get in as much air as possible before I lift, and I can achieve that better at the top vs. the bottom. Hence my huge breath of air before I pull on my 1st rep.

In on this! Hit 515 deadlift last week.

Can I join in on DL only? Have some knee issues, which are god awful enough that I don’t even bother squatting anymore, but… Finally pulled 585 in training. Hoping to jack up my pulling power to 600 by summer.

In for the deadlift now that I got 500, granted I’ll be in for a year or two I bet.

I’m in for both. Finally broke 500 for my squat last week (505). Deadlift’s at 545.

Hit a competition 585 squat yesterday!

Well the rest of 2013 was plagued with non-lifting injuries and setbacks. On my way back up with squat. Hit a 605x2 SSB foam box squat this week. Not going to pretend it in any way reflects my competition squat but it was nice to hit it anyway.

.

In for deadlifts! Best deadlift a month ago was a pretty easy 500, so hopefully by the end of the year I’ll have 600.

Squats on the other hand are only at 390, but at BW 181 if I squatted 600 I’d only be 6 lbs. shy of the drug-tested world record, so that might take a while…

That is the record I’m shooting for. It seems pretty low so hopefully I can nab it before someone else breaks it.

Yeah, I’m surprised how low it is. Move up to 198 and all of a sudden you need to compete with Jesse Norris’ 700 pounder. Best of luck to you–I’m also shooting for all those records at 181, but I’m really far off any of them…

This thread has returned to haunt me… I have done neither yet, but I have started training again. Let’s do this…
