I’m going for 500+ pretty soon. I’ll probably be able to get 405lbsx10 next back day, but I need to start training heavier.
I’m in. 21, hook grip, 190 kg 1 rm currently.
Got 310x8 off of a big deficit today: Deficit DL 310x8 on 05/18/09 - YouTube

Dude…if can pull 425x17 then you should be able to to crush 500. I would even say you are closer to 550.

I fail…425x17 would be cool though
deadlift workout is tomorow. Getting fucking pumped.
Bench workout yesterday:
Decided on a 195 Opener for Bench
and a 385 opener for deadlift
I’m testing my squat opener tomorow and my first meet is in 8 days.
Decided to change my typical sheiko routine up. I did the following:
Worked up to:
385x3,x3
402x1
418x1
435x1
All weights are in kilos, so I converted.
Then did some Farmers walks with 110s and 130 lbs farmers.
Anyone have any opinions on using farmers as a tool for deadlift. I know its going to help my grip, as well as my upper back strength. Even my legs feel it from them. If deadlift is total body, then so are farmers. I hope it’ll work.

I’ve been pmed by people about that thread I started about breaking that record. I have one more chance to make a run at improiving my dead before I turn 18. I’m doing 5/3/1 and will post my deadlift workouts here. Anyone with me? Mostly looking for teens.[/quote]
I’m in.
I just turned 20 so, i’m not exactly a teen anymore. Best ever DL was 475 with straps and shitty form. After injuries and set-backs I have no recent numbers and I won’t be doing any heavy singles so lets say my goal will be a triple at 495 with straps. Sound fair?
I am 18, I have been training dl for about 6 months. My personal best is 365x5 which according to those 1rm calculators puts me right at about 400. I just started 531 and I would like to break 500 by the end of next year, I don’t turn 20 until 2011.
Anyone who have done deficit pulls for an extended period of time and upon switching back to the off the floor version, finds it surprisingly easier?
I may as well jump in on this. 22 years old, best deadlift is 210kg/462lb in the under 82.5kg/181lb class. I also did an easy 175 x 10 recently.
What is 5 plates over there? 500lb? Here in New Zealand (metric system) it would be 484lb.

A 20kg plate/bar is about 44 lbs.
Standard plates here are 45 lbs. You lose about 16 lbs in metric with 5 plates.
5 plates is 495 lbs and maybe 500 lbs if you’re using heavy(2.5 lb) collars.

sorry if this is a stupid question but those using hook grip do you do it with a mixed grip or with a double overhand?

hook = double overhand
i pulled 5 plates for 5 today with a trap bar, so i dont think that counts. but it was interesting using a trap bare none the less.

I have seen guys pull 600 plus with a double overhand hook grip, but I’m pretty sure people do both. I personally have never found a hook grip helpful, but some people swear by them.
