Since you have so graciously made yourself available, I am going to take this opportunity
To utilize your skill/intellect. A little background on myself: I am a 32 year old male
Who would like to get cut to the bone and I am not looking for a magic pill, I want
To work my ass off for it. I am 6’ 1” tall. In February of 2000 I weighed 273 lbs and
Was 34.9% fat according to the underwater method. Now I beg of all the T readers, do not laugh at the next part. I did the Body For Life program 5 times in a row, I never missed one workout(over 350) in those 60 weeks. The first two times, I lost a total of
41 lbs, the second two times I lost 0 and the last time, when I cut the cardio down
a lot and tweaked the lifting to do a four day split, I lost 21 lbs. Basically I went from 273 to 211 in just over a year. I did not lose 71 lbs and gain 40 lbs of muscle like all the other BFL zealots, however, I did lose the 62 lbs and lost no muscle in 60 weeks. I am mad about not gaining any muscle, however, I am also glad, because most people trying to lose fat lose a whole lot of muscle. I am currently 14% fat. Oh yeah, this is the most
successful I have ever been, in the past I have been a living YO-YO, going from 210-300 lbs about 5 times, I would starve myself. Has that cause permanent damage in your opinion? What advise do you have for me to get to the next level, I realize it is just advise but, coming from you it means something, I am willing to do whatever(training)
you think. Right now my week is like this: Monday – Quads/calves, 15 minutes of Cardio, Tuesday- Chest/Back – if I can 15 minutes of cardio Wednesday – 30 Minutes
of cardio/abs – Thursday – hams/shoulders/calves – Friday – either 20 minutes of cardio
or bis/tris – Saturday – opposite of Friday. I realize a majority of what I am after
comes from Diet, so please, any advise would be great! I am willing to use any of the
biotest supps, but no steroids. I thank you for all you do on this forum and for the ezine, your advise and honesty are greatly appreciated!
Good job on the fat loss. It sounds like you’re really dedicated. What does your diet look like now? If you can post your calorie intake and pro/carb/fat ratios. If you’ve really stalled as far as fat loss goes it might be a good time to start putting on some muscle…not by bulking up but by slowly building your calorie intake up and re-optimizing your metabolism.
Thanks Kelly, I would love to build the muscle. I think I may have slowed the metabolism by eating too little, right now, during the week, I eat about 2000 a day, mostly MRP’s, I am stuck in the BFL cheat day mentality, on Saturda(and sometimes Sunday) I eat 10000+ calories and they are BAD ones, mostly junk. I know it’s my diet! Which of the many on this ezine do you reccommend. I have discipline for anything. One other thing, I saw someone that did a split of upper body day, lower body day and total body day. Is that a good idea? Thanks in advance!
Two weeks to College Football, can’t wait!!!
I have been there. If you have fast metabolic rate you can get away with cheating day once a week while dieting, but if you have slow metabolic rate like myself, one overeating day screws up seven days of strict dieting. No cheat days more than once a month for this monkey…
Another problem is that I do not have cheat meals but cheat days when I stuff my cakehole with everything as long as I can walk… and then I am sorry because of all that and crave for clean food…
I would definitely recommend John Berardi’s “Don’t Diet” plan, it’s outlined in one of his “Appetite for Construction” articles. Run a search, and you should find it. Good luck, and congrats on your accomplishments so far. - PJ
