Questions for Mormons

All because you just couldn’t come straight out from the beginning and say "yes, we believe in “THE EXISTENCE” of many gods which is polytheism, instead of rationalizing your way around it for no good reason from your point of view if you really believed that was the truth.

Do you actually read what I post? I never denied the existence of other gods. From my post above:

And so it is. The Old Testament and the New Testament are consistent in proclaiming the existence of multiple “gods.” However, Latter-day Saints do not recognize any other god as “our God.” “To us, there is but one God, the Father,” and “one Lord, Jesus Christ.” See, our God is the “God of gods.”

I guess Paul was polytheistic too since he acknowledged the existence of other gods.
super saiyan wrote:<<< Do you believe that Jesus Christ walked the earth, and appeared in the flesh as man, similar to us, though not exactly like us?
I believe that from all eternity there has been one AND ONLY ONE true and living God. That God has from everlasting to everlasting existed in 3 persons, the second of which entered time on the Earth as Jesus of Nazareth. One in substance with the Father and Spirit and in whom dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. He was also fully and comprehensively all that man is minus either the sin inherited from father Adam or any sin of His own. There has not ever been nor is it so much as even entertainable as a possibility that there ever COULD be ANY God whatsoever in any conceivable torturing of human language except this eternally triune God alone. One, One ONE God, three persons none of which are each other. Aside from which there is not nor could there ever be any other.

According the stern forceful crystal clear declarations of this God Himself? Those who do not worship Him and ESPECIALLY those who call absolutely any other being or beings their God, real or imagined, will pay with their eternal lives in everlasting torment for that eternal crime. I have a reasonably respectable command of the English language and I just don’t know how to make this any clearer.

We believe in the existence in many gods, but were not polytheists? Come on friend. What kinda double talk is that? NO NO NO, absolutely not!!! My church was never racist. We just simply denied the priesthood to blacks. Rolls eyes.

So, that’s a yes? LOL. I didn’t ask if you have the same beliefs that I do. Obviously we don’t since I don’t believe in the trinity. What I asked is if you believe that Jesus Christ walked the earth, and appeared in the flesh as man, similar to us, though not exactly like us. Apparently you do.

So where are these “stern forceful crystal clear declarations?” I’m STILL waiting for you to show me some scripture where God says I must believe in the Trinity to be saved.

There are different ways of looking at polytheism. We’re not polytheists in the sense that we do not worship other gods. That’s the point I wanted to make. So I will acknowledge being a polytheist so long as you acknowledge that Paul was a polytheist.
super saiyan wrote:<<< So where are these “stern forceful crystal clear declarations?” I’m STILL waiting for you to show me some scripture where God says I must believe in the Trinity to be saved.
The first commandment and the literally hundreds of pronouncements of judgment against idolatry apply directly to anyone denying who God says He is. They have an idol. A false god. HE SAYS He is triune in nature. A non trinitarian Jesus is not the Christ who saves. It is the most heinous of overt butchery of holy scripture to even attempt to say that Paul believed there existed in any sense more than one actual god. He is constantly contrasting false gods like yours against the one true and living God he preached. You are an idolater. Repent, forsake your idols, trust in and live for the one true God who alone exists and saves men from their sin against HIM which is the whole point. If you do, you are one of His elect. If not you aren’t. I have no way of knowing beforehand, but I sure hope and pray you are.

Read Deuteronomy 13. We now have the fullest revelation we’ll ever have this side of eternity concerning who this God is who is talking here.

My mom’s friend has been trying to convert us for 20 years. It all started in the 90s when she would send her kids over to do our yardwork for us… my parents were paying me $5 an hour and I was saving for a Super Nintendo and it was like some fucking Mexicans just hopped over the border and took my jerb!

But your god is a jealous god, not the only god, a jealous one and he does not want you to whorship other gods.

His words, not mine, which strongly points to him wanting to monopolize the market.

Yes… He IS a jealous God. That’s the point. He likens His relationship to His church to that of a husband and wife. He desires intimacy with His bride and will not suffer her to be ravished by any other. The prophet Hosea was given an object lesson in this very thing for OUR edification today for instance.
The 118th Psalm says"
<<< 2-Why should the nations say,
“Where, now, is their God?”
3-But our God is in the heavens;
He does whatever He pleases.
4-Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of man?s hands.
5-They have mouths, but they cannot speak;
They have eyes, but they cannot see;
6-They have ears, but they cannot hear;
They have noses, but they cannot smell;
7-They have hands, but they cannot feel;
They have feet, but they cannot walk;
They cannot make a sound with their throat.
8-Those who make them will become like them,
Everyone who trusts in them. >>>
This is what the Lord and all of His true representatives always mean by other gods. False non existent gods which makes their worship all the more loathsome in His sight. He promises and delivers fierce judgment and death on those both inside and outside His covenant people Israel over and over again throughout old testament history. Paul promises that idolaters will NOT see the kingdom of God. An idol is absolutely ANYTHING given the place and status reserved for and by the one true and living God alone. He has revealed Himself as being absolutely singular in being and absolutely triune in nature. In the beginning the Word both was with and WAS God for instance. (John 1:1) Those worshiping any other do worship idols, and thereby provoke His wrath to their own peril until and if they ruthlessly forsake their false gods and turn to He who alone is life and certainty itself. In that regard nothing has changed from all eternity.

I seriously doubt that there are no other gods, or else he would have said so, what he specifically said was that he wants to go steady with the Israelites and the is a bit of a dick regarding whorshipping around.

Example one:

Thou shalt not have other gods for there are none you fucktard.

Example two:

Thou shalt not have other gods for I will go all HULK SMASH on your ass, your kids asses and their kids asses until I find my mellow again, srsly.

Since Jehova leans heavily in the second direction, I can only assume that there are other gods, I think the Mormons win this one.

Organized religion…the greatest joke ever played on humanity…

Believe in God, fine. Believe in all this hodge podge of ill digested and disconcerted ramblings of semi-literate savages, dumb. Just plain dumb.

I guess you didn’t read my quote from the 118th Psalm. Yes… there ARE other gods. They are idols. Figments of their worshipers imaginations, but to them gods nonetheless. So Jehovah is telling us that we shall have no other gods BOTH because there are no other real ones AND because He will kill us… twice, if we do.

You really do have to go waaay outta your way to miss this in the bible LOL! Any semi literate heathen can spend an afternoon poking around and get it easily. There are many that are called gods. There is ONE who actually is. The one thing this God abominates above all else is for men to recognize any, but Him as God. Many do.

They are already in the throes of spiritual death by nature as inherited from father Adam. Those who die physically in this state are dead forever by the jealousy and wrath of the one true God who Jesus Himself told mankind to fear for this very reason. (Luke 12:4-5)

I have nothing useful to add. The thread reminded me of this:

And RG still has the greatest avatar ever LOL!!!LOL!!!LOL!!! It reminds me of big bad Rome running from Calvin LOL!!! Seriously, that cracks me up every time I see it.

Exodus 12:12
And against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment.

Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods

Exodus 15:11
Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods?

Exodus 18:11
Now I know that the LORD is greater than all gods

1 Samuel 28:13
And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.

1 Chronicles 16:25
The Lord … is to be feared above all gods.

Psalm 86:8
Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord.

Psalm 96:4
For the Lord … is to be feared above all gods.

Psalm 97:7
Worship him, all ye gods.

Psalm 135:5
Our Lord is above all gods.

Psalm 136:2
O give thanks unto the God of gods.

Jeremiah 10:11
The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.

Jeremiah 25:6
And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

Jeremiah 46:25
I will punish the multitude of No, and Pharaoh, and Egypt, with their gods.

Zephaniah 2:11
The Lord will be terrible to them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth.

Allright even a superficial reading reveals that there is a fuckton (metric fuckload) of gods around.

You mean I can find redemption posthumously…? Can the Catholic Church even offer that?

LDS, for the win…just stay away from my door please. I have already received “the talks”…from two smokin’ hot lady missionaries. They left the posthumous redemption part out of the talks.

Kinda a major selling point, don’t ya think?

There’s a catch, though. If you have the chance to accept the gospel in this life (as offered by the 2 hot missionaries), and reject it, it’s off to spirit prison you go, and you’re even less likely to accept it in the spirit world than to accept it here.

In my defense I was tricked into thinking I was getting “free” meals from my LDS friends whom wanted to “save” me.

Plus, I thought I could impress the parents of the girl whose panties I wanted to get into just by “openmindedly” listening to the fairy tales of Joseph Smith. Trust me, she was hot and totally worth it.

Did you fingerpaint or minigolf with her?
