Hallowen and Mormons

Now this isn’t a thread where I’m gonna bash mormons. They are a lovable group of people and if there are any here “hey!” In fact, I have come to find that it is possible to tell if someone is Mormon just by looking at them. You just have practice. Moving on

How does this religion feel about this greeting card holiday? I would imagine that they condone it considering they are not allowed to have caffiene. IF there is a shmo in here PAAAHLEASEE help clear this up for me. I have a general idea of what they believe in, and I know they are good at riding bikes, but how do they feel about Halloween?

I heard that Jack Urboady and ImYolked are Mormon…

Being from the state of Utah and technically Mormon, even though I haven’t gone to church in years, we still celebrate Halloween. Kids trick or treat, and teenagers and adults have Halloween parties, granted the parties aren’t super wild. I will also add that you probably won’t see as many sleazy costumes as in other places, but some girls will still dress that way. Fortunately, I will be attending a couple of parties near the U and will see plenty of sexy Halloween costumes. I hope this helps. You would probably get better information from practicing Mormons.

Strength4life, I am curious about why you started the thread.

Yes, they absolutely celebrate halloween. Their kids go trick or treating like everyone else.

I will say I agree with the poster below you who said you don’t see as many sleazy outfits on the older girls though.

Also, they are allowed to drink caffeine, some just choose not to do it. It isn’t in the Word of Wisdom such as alcohol or tobacco.

Nice to know theres a few other LDS who workout. Sometimes Mormons concentrate on the don’t and forget the do’s Like don’t drink but forget to say eat healthy and workout. I perfer to think its all related if you don’t drink thats good but if your fat and over weight thats just as bad to me.

HALLOWEEN is fun and we do celebrate it.

As a practicing Mormon I can clear this up for you. Yes, we absolutely celebrate halloween. We love halloween. Our kids go trick or treating like everyone else.

This was helpful thank you!

That’s not completely correct; coffee and tea are prohibited.

Your logical flaw is where you equate coffee and tea to caffeine. Those to drinks are against the rules, but caffeine is not. The church still allows cokes and such. The official stance is that the drinks are banned due to tanic acid content, which would make the ban entirely unrelated to caffeine.

What’s different about Halloween for Mormons? You go knocking on people’s doors the rest of the year.

I didn’t equate caffeine to coffee and tea. He said that “we are allowed to drink caffeine, some just choose not to do it.” Which is not completely accurate. I was simply clarifying that coffee and tea (which contain caffeine) are prohibited.

In which case, non-caffeinated drinks are as banned as caffeinated ones, because decaf coffee and tea are banned.

hahahah, no, thats jehova’s witness, but if you want an accurate description of the Mormon religion just watch the south park episode, i wonder if the actual mormon book is as rediculously entertaining

Mormons do 2 years of missions, door to door. You are ill informed.

This is why BYU and Boise State have good football teams. By the time the guys are seniors they are 24 going up against 18-19 year olds.

He didn’t ask about coffee or tea, he asked about caffeine. Nowhere in the Word of Wisdom is caffeine mentioned.

Some members take a more rigid stance on caffeine than others, but it is not prohibited. Yes, you are correct about coffee and tea, but my answer was completely correct.

Non-practicing LDS here. No problem with Halloween so far as I know. x2 on the costume’s being a little bit more reasonable on the older girls at dances and such, but the girls still look purdy good to me.

Semi-practicing Mormon…

I don’t know where you get the idea that the girls dress reasonable. I swear it is like a chance for LDS girls to act out. The parties I attend almost all the girls are very scantily dressed and are acting like sluts to the fullest, not saying this is a bad thing.

You would be surprised how much some of these girls want a chance to act out.
