Question of Power

hey guys and gals, i was hopeing some one could give me any tips on how to increase my power to weight ratio i am already at a good weight for the sports i compete in but now i realy need to increase my power and speed.

has any one done any exercises that they realy found increased there power and speed with out gaining to much size and also does any one have a good definition for the relation ship between power and speed are they the same thing?

you mean like powertraining/explosive power exercises? Cant believe u havent heard of them.

Exercises like power cleans, snatches, push presses, any exercise or weight training exercise that requires alot of force and a jump to complete a move.
Search the exercises i told u on google or google video.

They are not the same thing.

Power is defined as beign able to produce force quickly.

You did not give any lifting #s but if you are weak simply getting stronger will make you much faster and more
powerful.

I’m not sure who said it, but think of strength as the glass and all other strength qualities can be put into the glass. In other words you can only get so powerful befor you have to gain more strength

When I ran track, my coach asked me how much I could squat. When we realized my training partner could lift the same at a lower body weight, it was obvious why he was faster. Bottom line, get stronger (low reps) and sprint.
