Quest For a 600lb Deadlift!

Im in as well. My best pull was in a meet last month, 524lbs. I injured my back last week, deadlifting of all things. Was only doing sets at about 70% but I think I rounded my back on of my last lifts and something went bad. I know I’m down for a bit but I think the injury has pissed me off more than anything and I feel hungry to get back in the gym.

What are you doing to get it healthy again and to keep it healthy once your better?

The most I’ve hurt my actual back is minor muscle strains, but I’ve hurt my SI pretty bad before and it will still ache and make my low back/hip feel tight every once in a while so I’ve picked up a few tricks to get it working well again.

Ill toss in a video. I haven’t pulled heavy in… well last time I pulled 5 plates was 4 months ago. I dunno where my max is right now, got a meet Sept 14th to find out. Anyways heres a 495 from today.

Before anyone asks, that’s a 45# bumper, two plates, 35, 10, 25, and two more 10s.

For my form, I felt like I had the weight out on the balls of my feet rather than the heels, but it still moved just fine. Would have liked to try a new max but heavy pulls destroy my recovery like nothing else.

I’m in although i’ll try get it without a belt as i’ve done it with one already

To get healthy mostly active recovery: walking, foam roller, some stretching and also chiropractic. Feeling pretty good after seeing the chiro today. He was able to jam my spine back inline and felt like instant relief. Im going to do some light squats a few light things tomorrow and just slowly get back into it. To keep healthy Im going to keep a better focus on my DL technique and keep from rounding my back as Im pretty sure thats what did it in the first place. I DL conventional, I had a lifter I know tell me that he found lifting Sumo helped prevent him from rounding his back. I may try some sumo lifts and see how they feel, I squat fairly wide so it may be interesting at the very least to give it a try.

I’ll play and will likely be the oldest in the thread at 46.

Got 512 at my last meet in February after fully tearing my distal bicep tendon earlier in the meet. Think I would have been good for around 540-550 that day if the injury hadn’t occurred. Had surgery in early March and I’m back to 100%. 606 tops my weight class in raw masters category so 600 is a great goal to shoot at.

I switched from sumo to conventional for the same and opposite reasons.

The same because I switched from sumo to avoid hurting myself so I could continue to progress.

The opposite because for me, the stress of sumo on my posterior hip capsule was way too much and conventional seemed to move that stress on my hips to my back which has proven to be a lot sturdier for me personally.

It took a little while to get my conventional to where my sumo was, but it was definitely worth it. Now I can make continual progress because I’m not encountering seemingly endless set backs from the stress on my hips.

I’m in. I’ve never done one of these before, current max is 485. I spent he last 4 weeks tearing my form apart, and doing hi-rep, low weight stuff to relearn movement patterns. Let’s see how well it works.

I’m in. Switched to sumo recently and pulled a fairly easy 530 at a mock meet. Looking to run the Coan/Phillipi cycle near the end of the year.

Since it would be too easy to pull 600, i decided to herniate a disc to give me more of a challenge

I am in.

Best comp pull was 575 (@172bw)

Missed 600 above the knees (@165)

Screwed up my SI joint last year and only got back to deadlifting and squatting seriously about 5 weeks ago

I am going back to 5-3-1 boring but big with regular deads, deficit deads…and maybe snatch grips.

I have 10 weeks till a competition …we will see if I can finally hit 6~!

Always can find one guy in these threads who let’s you all know that he’s already done this. Wonder if Magnusson and Bolton take turns trolling the 1000 lb deadlift thread.

Yeah, no heat on that though, if you ask me. Getting a weight, and getting a weight a harder way is still the same thing, getting stronger.

Ill spam the thread with more video, this one is 465 bar weight and 105 in band tension at lockout. I wasn’t paying attention to the poundage at all, just worked up in doubles til my speed dropped, and clearly this is where that happened haha. Much more a grind than I was planning.

I’m in. best so far is 227.5kg @ 102kg:

Hit it in the same session as I first tried mixed grip - love it.
Can reliably pull 200kg x2 at the moment. weight hasn’t gone up much the past year as I’m in the process of dropping from 125kg to 85kg. Don’t think I have any particular weaknesses holding me back, just need to keep getting stronger. Using 5/3/1 at the moment.

I’d like to get in on this. Best lift in a meet was 535 @215. I’m four weeks out from a meet and I’m shooting for something past 560.

575@ 172!! nice

I’m trying to work in some sumo pulls to build up my hips and low back for carry over to conventional so I was hoping the people could give me some tips on my sumo technique.

And here’s some dynamic pulls against light bands:
