Queen Cobra's Training Log

Easy, big boy
There’re Willk’s points to determine strenght and I’m agree with that. I don’t care much about absolute weight of the bar but the relative strenght. In fact I’m not impressed by someone who can squat 300 kg if he is 130 or 150 kg - let be noticed- I speak generally . Well, he’s not as strong as 83kg man who squats 300kg. That’s world record for 83kg BW class. How can he be more impressive than twice heavier man? I’m not, sorry. It’s my point of view and it’s not offence to anyone.
Last month European PW competition was held in Lithuania. I would like to express my disappointment about the financial status of the bulgarian federation and the facts that the contestants bare their costs themselves. :frowning: No supporting team, doctors, coaches, etc. And still we have an european junior champion.

Breathing and bracing is a skill I’m still working on myself. Post back injury I’ve done a lot of it beltless to re learn stability.

Neutral spine position is important to maximise stability. When overhead pressing it’s a bit harder because the tendency is to lean back and over extend. Deliberate breathing also important.

Started using my belt again just today actually and it feels great. All the beltless work helped but I think belt will always be best for max stability

*edit: using the belt properly is best lol. Still working on figuring out belt on deadlift but for my squat it’s amazing

Sadly, breathing and brasing are the things that I neglected for too many years. Yes, theoretically I knew what to do and gave advices to others, but didn’t apply in my lifts. Just a 3-4 month ago I started to learn this so I’m a newbie here.

Same. I worked on muscle generated stability for a long time but learning to use intra abdominal pressure AND muscles was a game changer

You couldn’t find a bigger pile of shit at a farm for cows with diarrhoea

I dunno man, Dave Hoff is famous for his Wilks. I’ve heard Julius Maddoxes Wilks is so impressive that Eddie Halls decided to get in on the action and try chasing that world record Wilks coefficient.

Hoff and Maddox are famous for much more than just Wilks. They’re mostly famous for having lifted more than anyone else ever has, repeatedly. Funny thing is you can bet the farm neither ever chased a Wilks.

I view the idea of measuring strength as relative to bodyweight with contempt because it places limits on anyone chasing it, as well as being a convenient way to justify being weaker than you could be. I know personally quite a few people who chase a Wilks or bodyweight multiple and the one thing they all share is lack of achievement.

If I see two people squat 800 pounds, I’ll look at them and go, shit, they just squatted 800 pounds, that’s a lot of weight. I couldn’t care less how much they weigh. They are equally strong squatters.

It was meant tongue in cheek, the point being how silly it is to believe that the big names in the respective sports of picking up heavy shit got that way by virtue of their Wilks. They became famous and respected because they picked up heavier shit than other people, not picking up stuff that’s relatively heavier according to a complex calculation.

I mostly agree with you, however as someone who doesn’t have the genetics to ever be great at strength sports, I like to have things like relative strength to fall back on to protect my ego.

I’m not agree with you at all but whatever, in your bw class squats are more 400 kg so what’s the metter ? It’s more than anything that 70 kg man can squat.

To be fair, Mark is just telling you what he’s personally impressed with. You can be impressed with different things and that doesn’t make you wrong. I’m impressed by big boobs, for example. I don’t think less of you for feeling differently.

It’s been a friendly conversation at the first place, I hope nobody’s feelings have been hurt, @MarkKO :heavy_heart_exclamation:
I like small boobs but thick butt to be clear

O, dear, this is a lifetime collection. Unfortunately, most of them are in bulgarian. But I’ll improvise :).

As a not strong person who is 197cm (6’5.5”), i hate body weight ratios but all other things being equal I find it slightly more impressive for a lighter lifter to do the same weight.

Also, I like boobs and asses, no qualifiers!
