The local TV shows did a segment about how a Dj in town has lost 8 pounds in a week popping the supplement Pyruvate, and talking up how he wasn’t paid to do it, but it’s been so incredible he just had to, yadda yadda yadda. Then they interview some others with similar results.
I figure it’s all crap since no one here talks about it, but thought I’d throw it out and get everyone’s opinion.
I thought pyruvate was declared bunk years ago already?
Men’s Health referred to a study on it that found it can indeed be helpful, but that the effective amount is several times the dose of a full serving, and that pyruvate can cause serious digestive and gas problems. They advised skipping it. And anyway, we all know thatlosing 8 pounds a week is impossible–that’s 28,000 calories deficit total, or 4000 calories below zero a day. You’d have to eat nothing at all, and do heavy workouts for hours a day, to approach this.
pyruvate is effective if you take enough but ends up being quite expensive. basically you’d have to use so much that you could instead use MD6, T2, Methoxy, and caffeine and you would still be spending less than just pyruvate.
From what I remember about pyruvate,
Effective supplementation involved HUGE amounts. The idea was to overcome the problems caused by the liver cells being depleted of ATP as can occur in low cal dieting after several weeks. The ATP deletion at the liver results in an inability of these cells to convert T4 to T3. As you know with lowered T3, getting rid of stored fat is a lot harder. Duchaine once suggested a possible solution was 5-7days of maintenance eating every 2-3 weeks in order to top up the liver. Pyruvate was initially promoted as an alternative to this, the supplement that would put an end to the “slowing down” of a fat loss diet.
For best results, stack it with HMB, Inosine, Gamma Frac and a serve of sloppy cow shit.
