How dare you! Do you not see the level of development Professor X has achieved? Don’t you ever suggest an exercise to him again. Don’t even think about it.

It was actually funny enough to chuckle at?

I may not be 12% in that pic and hitting it on the nose wasn’t my intention with that post.

I was simply showing that for someone who was told before that he looks like he didn’t lift, there seems to be enough muscle there.

I personally don’t laugh at the progress people make if they really worked hard at it and it shows.

I am sure you do.

You work as a personal trainer, right?

The “personal training” threads are pretty much the only reason I bother to check this section of the site nowadays.

I don’t think anyone with any degree of sense consider there to be any sort of “race” between the various posters involved in the coaching process, as I’m pretty sure most of us here are able to grasp the concept of genetics, effort, motivation, etc… you know, things a PT can’t control over the web. No one is going to belittle the knowledge of zraw, stronghold, jskrabac or rds821349234702734, or lord the success of one over the other, so long as none of them do bizarrely stupid shit with their “clients” that clearly flushes their protocol(s) down the shitter.

The value of the threads, to me at least, isn’t necessarily found in how quickly these guys can help each poster reach their goals (to a point), but more so in the way the gears turn in their heads when designing the programs. You know, how they form an initial assessment based on lifestyle/training history and turn a basic template into an all-encompassing program customized to the collective idiosyncrasies of each individual.

People following along are certainly welcome to copy/paste the templates into their own training, but being able to see inside the head of each coach, following the critical thinking, strategy and rationale (stronghold has been great with this, I believe) that goes into turning each goal into a reality is very kewl stuff. Particularly with the fairly eclectic mix of folks we get to follow.

Obviously, there’s nothing wrong with offering advice piecemeal as the opportunities present themselves; most here, I think, are capable of tuning in to the various threads across the forum, gleaning what they can and building that base themselves… but there’s a lot to be said for simply following an A → B → C ----> Z transformation all in one place.

I think that’s what people would like to see most, particularly given the fact that your position on certain aspects of lifting differs from that of the other coaches. It would just help to paint a little more of the bigger picture, not to see who can do what faster and use it as bragging rights.
It takes personal direct training to really get to know someone’s strengths and weaknesses and in what way they can progress the most.

I am doubtful of anyone claiming to do this well completely obver the internet.

My goal is to help people think better about how to help themselves, not to literally take their hand and spoon feed them for months over a computer screen.

I can learn more about someone in 10 seconds in the gym than I can in 2 years over the internet.
True, just ask Manti Te’o!!

Then my mistake.

Regardless, I do not have the time for that. That is why my goal is to discuss these topics openly to help as many as possible, not to train a few people publicly.

If you feel that is a good way to contribute, then continue doing it.

I personally can help in other ways and have for years.

I agree with IronMan. You would be crazy at 12%
I think he mentioned 12% because 10-12% seems to be generally accepted as impressively lean without getting into the relm of contest conditioning where muscle loss would become a potential issue. I am not him so I cannot answer for him but that is my interpretation of why he specifically mentioned 12%

I think I got about there here.

Not laughing at progress. I was laughing that you think/thought you were close to 12% in that pick. And by the way, the fatter you are, the easier it is to lose fat. Once you get to the lower end it gets tougher and tougher. 30% to 20% is pretty easy. 20% to 10% isn’t.

You should try it sometime.

I think both methods are valid and can have a positive impact

I think the turn this thread has taken wasnt necessary though and really.do wish it had been deleted

I have been asked several times why I got so heavy…and I am showing how fast I lost that weight.

That is the main point…not some contest with you to see who can get the leanest.

If I like how I looked, why would I be worried about what YOU like?

I posted that pic more to show the progress I made in a relatively short period of time…and just a heads up…I am leaner in that pic than most people and also carrying more muscle.

While I am not “impressively lean”…it is a little off for someone to look at a person weighing 250 in that condition at my height and focus only on faults.

You are not that big…so maybe you should try that sometime.

Again, never made any comment in that post on your progress or even how you look. You related yourself to being close to 12% body fat. That is ridiculous.

I’d laugh at you if you claimed you were close to being a unicorn too.

And unlike you I have done both. I’ve bulked up into obesity and got back to lean. You have only done the first.

And again, you are relating dieting down out of obesity to dieting down to impressively lean. The 2 things aren’t in the same ballpark.

Who cares if I am not exactly 12% there?

Why is that an issue for you?

I don’t care what number I am in that pic. I have stated that already.

Why ignore the muscle I built to focus on body fat like I need to be shamed of it?

I wrote that I may have been close to that. And don’t care if I’m not.

I know I was having great sex at that time and not once heard, “eewwww” so take that as you please.

But…you haven’t gotten as big as me…so until you do, why act like you did both?

I don’t care if I am not 12% body fat.

I am happy with whatever I was then and I will do even better later…so what is the issue…and what is so funny?

Why does it bother you so much that some people are not as impressed with your physique as you are? Are you that insecure that you need the reassurance of strangers on the internet?

Although I agree that people should learn to think for themselves, there are plenty of well qualified coaches, who do this well completely over the internet. And there’s pics for proof…
