I currently use a scoop of gatorade powder in my PWO shake and I’m wondering if there is anything better to use without buying pre-made shakes? I’m curious because it’s pretty much all sugar (the dextrose is what I’m using it for).
I know I need an insulin spike but why do I need such a huge spike instantly rather than a lower GI carb? Wouldn’t a lower GI carb allow protein synthesis last longer? Please help.

Grape juice good also, high dextrose. thats what i take.
You need a huge spike PWO because you used up all your energy ressources and need to feed your muscles FAST, not over the course of several hours.
I would take the protein 30 mins after your juice to make sure MAX protein goes to your muscles.
