PWI Regulars - Post Your Lifts
kaaleppi wrote:

Really impressive lifts. Well, I’m not writing often and there is a clear reason, I don’t lift much. Or actually I lift daily, but that’s for keeping my posture and the muscles alive. No other goals. Just a couple of minutes per day with a 20 kg dumbell. Does that give the right for 2-3 posts per month, or should I cease altogether?
Exactly right - your political opinions are completely invalid here unless you demonstrate that you “lift”.

On the other hand, if you post a video of you doing dumbbell presses in a sleeveless Under Armour shirt two sizes two small, then you can actually start your own threads.

Best lifts so far:

Squat: 562
Bench: 419
Deadlift: 601

All in competition, drug free, at 6’5" and a bodyweight of 272 for the squat and deadlift, and 291 (after a shitload of beers…hey the meet was in Vegas!) for the bench.

Edit: Also 265 strict OHP at 265 bodyweight

Double Edit: Strict Curl is 176 (federation world record for my weight class actually…gonna take a run at the all-time federation record of 185 or so in 2013)

18 1/2" arms and blessed with wheels. Chest is my lagging area at the moment as I am still recovering from a pec tear.
Good stuff, keep lifting. I’m tall, and chest has always been tricky for me as well. And I’m sure you’re familiar with it, but passing along my experience - I got into tire-flipping several years ago, and I’ve found it is great for shedding fat (but I also run a lot).
I am definitely not built for running. Also, I had a complete tear of my plantar ligament over two years ago playing BB with the kids. Running has become something “I used to be able to do.” I will have to look into getting a tractor tire. I have three acres so I ought to be able to put together some decent workouts.

Just got caught up on these 11 pages…good shit for you guys that posted!

And for those of you getting down on yourself and lifts not being good enough, that is absolute bullshit. As long as you are making progress (lighter bodyweight, more weight, more reps, etc.) then you are better than 100% of the people out there sitting behind a keyboard judging you.

As my main man JW says:

“No one?s going to judge you as a person on how much weight you lift; and if they do, their opinions aren?t worth a watery shit.”

Notice a few of the 15,000+ posters from this sub-forum though that seem to have completely missed this thread. Weird, since they’re in every single other one.

I thought you were on TRT ? hmmm so extra added testerone is drug free? Just curious not slamming you just trying to figure out if TRT constitutes “drug-free” is all.

My lifts:
Sqaut 460
Bench 380
Deadlift 520

All raw no belt wraps or supplements.
Height 6’1 weight 228
Was better years ago on all lifts before a lot of the injuries and following operastions imposed their limitations.

Thats me in my avatar.

Yeah, it’s not really “added testosterone” it is “replaced testosterone”. My levels are below the established physiological ranges, and I’m under a doctor’s care.

I have to get a Therapeutic Use Exemption to compete in my fed (100% RAW) which was about a mile of red tape and paperwork, but they approved it. I didn’t try with USAPL because they said they wouldn’t up front. So it definitely depends on the federation. Take that however you want, but my conscience is clear.

I gotta say though guys. Professor X doesn’t deserve any disrespect when it comes to training. He can be a butthead sometimes, but so can I. He’s one of the longest standing members and still one of the biggest guys around here. He and I have always had a foundationally similar training philosophy of pragmatic simplicity and intuitive hard work too. (in a nutshell). I have many fond memories here with him as well. He’s helped a lot of guys over the years here too. I dunno. I just don’t like it. Not that anybody should have any particular reason for caring, but there it is. PWI stuff is another story lol.

I’ve been training since March 2009, so right at 3.5 years. That is a bit misleading though, since I played basketball in college so had some training experience there (though not as much as you would think) plus some in high school. But I hadn’t worked out in like 6 years prior March '09 and just sat around and ate pizzas instead. Now I go to the gym and eat pizzas.
Man, Tirib, you’re a bit of a scary lookin’ Christian! ;-)
The jailhouse tattoos don’t help either, but keeps the demons away. lol. Nah, only the Holy Spirit can do that. Ya know what’s funny? Kids absolutely love me. I’m serious. I can’t get away from em. Last week at church was a perfect example. I run a computer controlled jumbo screen from a media room on the second floor in back of the sanctuary overlooking the congregation. I had to run to the bathroom at an opportune time when I knew I could leave the screen alone for a few minutes. The upstairs bathroom is through the nursery for the 3-5 year olds. I hurriedly walk in there and Oh my Lord. Next thing I know I’m surrounded by like 8 little people. Faces lookin up at me. “I like your shoes, why don’t you have any hair, can we feel your beard, do you like the way my mama did my braids, my daddy has a suit like that except his tie is different, was Jesus as big as you, how come you have blue eyes, will you pick me up?” one’s huggin my leg LOL!! So there I am crouched down with tiny fingers all in my beard, having my head rubbed and the girl with the braids under my arm getting me to hug her. Now that’s a good time man. One of the wise old women around there told me once that small children sense the spirit of somebody from their heart. What’s even more interesting is these are all black kids who haven’t been taught that white people are the enemy. They don’t have much money, but they have so much more.

Oh well, here I go off topic again. Sorry.

With that kind of land, you’re golden. And, while you obviously flex the knee on the lift, you don’t get the pounding on the knee like you would with running. If you have the means, get two different kinds of tires - a heavier one, and a lighter one. I use the lighter one on “cardio” days.

I currently train with a loosely-organized group (emphasis “loosely”) of former athletes, mostly former linemen. We are all in a groove of training for these “tough mudders” for charity, so there’s no substitute for logging the miles with running. But I’ve always run, so it isn’t too bad.

But I still try to flip tires for cardio when I can - it works well.

I didn’t mean to disrespect anyone. I’m fatter, smaller and probably weaker than he is. I was only pointing out we all have different goals. Not fitting into someone else’s ideas of real lifting is nonsense. X likes bodybuilding, BUT bodybuilding includes getting really really lean. That part isn’t important to him. He cares about being large and muscular. Which is fine, but not having the same goals as a bodybuilder doesn’t mean he shouldn’t post in the bodybuilding forum.

For example, right now my #1 goal is just getting healthy. I’m losing size and some strength right now. Doesn’t mean I shouldn’t post in any of the strength forums.

You didn’t disrespect anyone. This thread has been about PWI regulars discussing their lifting, and up to this point, it has been encouraging and generally on-topic. Keeping it so is in everyone’s interests. Whether people train for marathons, powerlifting or golf is irrelevant to whether they “should” be posting in PWI.

Pat, good luck on your back recovery. After hurting my back a couple of times, I stopped doing free squats and deads. Sucks, but at least I’m still making progress, sans the injuries.

Keep the numbers coming, haven’t heard anything yet from Tiribulus, orion, Brother Chris, Sloth, kamui, Mufasa, Forbes, raj, PB Andy…
ahem

Bodyguard must have overlooked a couple (I think orion may have posted on the first page, and we have since heard from a couple guys, but not others). He also forgot to add Maximus to the list. Or maybe he just considered Maximus’s “contributions” to the first page to actually be relevant. I dunno the guy, so I won’t speak for him.

I also didn’t catch the stats of some others, like countingbeans (though I know he actually lifts), fightingirish (he’s a scrappy bastard), and a couple of the “newer” posters like USMCD. So strange how every single thread in this forum gets a nod from some of these guys, except for this one.

Man, I’ve got some work to do. Seems like your built for strength. I’ve been training for almost purely strength the past 4 years and 2 years before that going through the newbie program hopping I don’t know what hell I’m doing kind of thing and this is where I’d estimate where I’m at by my working weights:

195-200lb
5’10"

185lb Press
385lb Squat
295lb Bench
490lb Pull

14 pull ups on a good day
bodyweight+100lb pull up

I really want that bw press, x2bw squat, x1.5bench, and x2.5bw pull. At least I’m almost there. Hopefully, I’ll get them all by February if not earlier.

Granted when I start 6 years ago, I was 145lb with the beginnings of a beer gut and a nearly concave chest. I had to start working out with bench with just the bar. But gains came quickly after that. Amazing what not drinking like a fish every other night, eating some real food, and getting a decent nights sleep will do for a person.

Bro you have come a helluva long way from that 145 lb weakling and are still making progress. That is what it’s all about. You needn’t be comparing your lifts to someone that is 80+ pounds heavier than you, that is just silly since there are so many other considerations that are outside of your control. Just make sure that you are taking small, measurable steps to reaching your goals. Each workout should be benefiting you in some regard (more weight on the bar, more reps, more sets, less rest, lighter bodyweight, “reduced mental stress”, etc.). If you structure each and every workout with some sort of goal, you will surely move to becoming the best you that you can be. And that is all that matters.
