I no longer lift. I’m attempting to get super fat so I can get on disability.

Had to add PlateMates and duct tape the nickels (ran out of room on the bar) but I easily nailed a 600 lbs trap bar deadlift two weeks ago.
On another note I’m shooting for a 600 lbs conventional raw deadlift before my 52nd birthday at the end of this summer.[/quote]
Keep it up. Like an ox.

Nice move I hear it’s the wave of the future.
Just for the heck of it tried to see what I could get on a 45lb trap bar last week, but I have too many nagging old injuries to go really heavy on anything. I more tan make up for it in other ways though. I got 7 full reps with 3 plates a side. I got 4 up with some effort, but not TOO bad. About half way up with 5 I got really lightheaded and put it down. That was pretty heavy, but I think I could get it in a couple weeks if I tried.
I CANNOT do any kind benching really heavy because my shoulders, especially my right, are in rough shape. I can get 10-12 with 2 plates a side. Leg press I get 12-13 with 7 plates a side.
I train mainly for size anyway and I’m decently big. Especially for a 48 year old.
Fuck lifts. I want to SEE if these people even train at all.
I mean, you don’t have to be an all out bodybuilder…but to be on this site and spend most of your time here…I am truly interested in who even trains hard at all.
YEAH!!! Because if they don’t then they must be wrong in PWI too!!! LOL!!! I’m teasin ya Doc.
I do my best and If I had a before shot even you would be truly impressed. I have not missed a scheduled training time in 7 years come March, even after losing my house where my gym was. I have diabetes and must control it myself (no money) which is getting harder the older I get.
I train at this powerhouse Google Maps in Detroit where I get the respect of everybody there including the owner who is a Christian who lets me train there for free. I help him with his computer stuff.
I’ve made minorly noticeable gains since then. A few months ago. Do not even attempt to suggest that I’m being self absorbed and that this was not a call out of me 10 seconds after I post here =] Which you could have just done rather than this kinda side mouthed method here LOL!
EDIT: That’s my landlord’s living room I’m standing in.
I train just to stay strong enough to get up off the ground should I fall. I have been recovering from a herniated disk in my neck (so there is my excuse) so here are my most recent lifts. I am currently avoiding singles
Squat- 455x3 (11/7/12)
Bench- 425x3 (11/14/12)
Deadlift- 515x3 (11/1/12)
I figure triples also count as cardio so I can avoid anything like that.

We share the same barber, but I am envious of the beard.

We also share similar builds…
250lbs at 5’ 10". Obviously carrying too much fat but at 46 years old and with the hours I work and the eating on the run, I am just happy to get into the gym five days a week. I will say that one thing remains true. The older I get, the stronger I get. It just hurts more the next day.
18 1/2" arms and blessed with wheels. Chest is my lagging area at the moment as I am still recovering from a pec tear.
At least you lift and look like it, dude.
I am betting most of these guys are so pissed off lately because their wives get nauseated when they get naked.

Good stuff, keep lifting. I’m tall, and chest has always been tricky for me as well. And I’m sure you’re familiar with it, but passing along my experience - I got into tire-flipping several years ago, and I’ve found it is great for shedding fat (but I also run a lot).

To be fair there’s a decent size powerlifting contingent here too. My last comp was in Oct and I got a 405 squat, 280 bench, and 535 deadlift. My next comp is in Jan at Camp Pendleton and I’m looking to best all of those numbers.
But I don’t know if I look like I lift at all.

When I say that, I mean “does not look like a couch potato who spends most of his time arguing politics on a weightlifting website”.
I am sure you look like you lift if your avatar is you.

Really impressive lifts. Well, I’m not writing often and there is a clear reason, I don’t lift much. Or actually I lift daily, but that’s for keeping my posture and the muscles alive. No other goals. Just a couple of minutes per day with a 20 kg dumbell. Does that give the right for 2-3 posts per month, or should I cease altogether?

Please don’t feel you must waste another one by responding. Save em for something more useful.

No…it just makes me wonder why someone who clearly doesn’t take lifting seriously would come here just to discuss politics.
That makes as much sense to me as the many people who were here just for the sex forum. They have way better porn sites…so why come here just for that?

I don’t know, but it’s kind of flattering for the site, in a way. Ther could be a lot of wishful thinking and self-deception involved. I’m taking the dumbell very seriously, I can’t replace it. It’s not heavy lifting but it is lifting for a clearly defined purpose. But I’ve spent two posts already.

Yeah, kinda like how someone who hasn’t seen his abs in 15 years and who will be on a stage shortly after hell freezes over, spends large amounts of time posting as an authority in a bodybuilding forum.

? I can see my abs…or at least the outline of them. I don’t get the relation. I don’t see many people who have trained at all with 20" arms either…so yeah, competition doesn’t symbolize what someone has accomplished as much as the muscle gained does.
I don’t see many personal trainers on this site even my size…so what are you talking about?
