PWI Regulars - Post Your Lifts

Didn’t know where else to post this, but after 5 years of not having been in the gym and gaining 40lbs of flab, this week is the second week of getting back into the game.

Started with keto 3 weeks ago, lost 10lbs and feel better than ever before. Can’t post lifts as of yet ofcourse but it’ll come.

I’ve given myself 6 months to get back to a point where I can feel good about my physical appearance again. I don’t think that on keto it will be much of a problem. All these years on so much sugar and carbs… but better late than never!

To be continued…
Oh, and if I may be so bold as to offer a bit of advice; the most effective method for maximizing your results in the gym is also the easiest. Set, clear, concrete, positive goals for yourself and write them down. Then keep the paper in a place where you’ll see it every day.

Even better, write the goals down every day.

Good luck to you!

I am a “bigchop” so the numbers are relatively shitty:

Squat- 575
Bench- 430 (420 on monday with some in the tank)
Deadlift- 600 (last “max” was 8/7/11 did 625)

Good job everyone.

Well, I guess I’ll post here too since it seems a good place. After 6weeks of a lean-up program, I’ve cut 5.2lbs (the goal was 6). This is despite rather constant alcohol consumption and a major event that “ate up” 5 days at the end (and I did eat up!). So I’m feeling pretty decent about it.

Only problem was I was challenging a friend who took it WAY more seriously than I did. I lost 5, he lost 12! So we’ve set up another 4 week challenge. If I stand any chance at all I really need to clean up my diet. So here I am in the early hours cooking two huge packs of chicken and dividing 'em up. lol.

I am also going to re-assess my 9pm dinner of chicken, broccoli and whiskey. lol

Agreed.

Get rid of the broccoli… YUK!

Ah I am weak and small as shit, probably the weakest and smallest here.

benchpress: 10x60kg, 4x70kg.

deadlift: 7x90kg, 3x100kg.

one arm db row: 10x32,5kg db`s.

squat: Aint gonna tell ya, because it is pathetic.
A little update.

I have been able to improve those lifts some since this, not by much, but progress is progress as they say.

current best`s:

bench: 9x67,5kg, 8x70kg.

deadlift: 8x90kg, 5x100kg, 1x112,5kg.

Militarypress: 7x42,5kg.

squat: 8x60kg.

Yup thats it.

florelius,

That is major progress, especially your 70kg bench (4 to 8 reps), congrats.

I do appreciate the advice Cortes, however, keeping logs is something I’ve never done.

I’m not counting my calories, and I won’t be keeping track of how I’m doing in the gym. My mind just doesn’t work that way; I’m just very happy that I’m back on track.

Not what I was suggesting, my friend. I said write down your GOALS! As in, “I am 201lbs at 10% body fat.”

Goals should be concrete, clear, specific, and written in the positive (ex. Bad: I will not eat junk food anymore. Good: I will eat only food from natural sources that helps me to become leaner, stronger and more muscular).

I don’t keep a log, either. Never have and probably never will. Nor do I count calories. I can see the point for some people. Don’t particularly care, myself.

As for writing down goals? That’s something EVERYBODY should be doing.

nothing wrong with it, especially in an omelet.

The cheese and bacon are more or less a given.

100% exactly correct. We have met upon common ground at last.

I know my goals: I want to be gorgeous again! Keto changed my life and there’s no way I’d go back to my old habits.

Anyway, coming week 5x5 split and cardio. Can’t wait!

I make a mean egg and spinach souffle.

ephrem,

when you say “keto” are you talking about a ketogenic diet (like mauro dipasuale’s) or accomplishing ketosis some other way, or am i just old and out of touch? i have always been interested in trying the high fat medium protein low carb model, but i’ve never met anyone that used it. any input, anecdotes would be helpful.

Yeah, a ketogenic diet. I’ve been in ketosis for the last 2.5 weeks or so, confirmed by ketostix.

It changed my life. I have energy all day and I don’t crash anymore. Physical and mental wellbeing and most important of all; fat melts off me each day. It’s amazing really.

Ketogenic diets are best suited for people who have insulin-related issues, whether that’s hypoglycimia or full-on diabetes, or for those who just get fat and tired from sugar and carbs.

Fat is a superiour fuel, simple as that. And what you can eat on a keto diet is all amazing food, healthy too!

This is a good source of information because I only know that it works: http://www.reddit.com/r/keto/

I’ve been lipid adapted for six years in August. Allows me to eat large quantities of calories a day for relatively little money if I’m smart about it, make gains and not get fat. If I ate 5000-5500 calories on a glucose based metabolism I’d be a medicine ball with a face. I’m afraid no diet or training program is going to help your mental well being though Ephrem. Only Jesus can raise the dead. I happen to have extensive experience with keto eating, weight training AND Jesus so I would be happy to chime in with my willing and humble guidance in any combination of these three areas. Of course I highly recommend the latter the most though.

I wouldn’t mind to hear more about your experiences with ketogenic dieting, T. But you can shove Jesus up your ass, allright?
