This may be obvious, but I’m assuming if you’re training twice a day (cardio in the morning and then weights in the afternoon) then you should be having a post-workout drink after BOTH workouts. I’m just dieting down right now and want to make sure I’m not excessing on calories and can’t recall if this was addressed in any of the Berardi columns.
If you are going to use Surge as your post-workout drink, I would only use it after the weight training workout. And consume something else after cardio. I don’t think that you need the same type of post-workout drink after cardio. And with the cost o fSurge, I would definitely use it for my most intense training sessions involving weights, not cardio. Just my thoughts.
It depends on what type of cardio training you are doing in my opinion. If it’s high intensiy and a primarily anaerobic workout then I believe your post-workout drink/snack should be basically the same as the one you consume after a weight training session. Just my opinion.
Actually, JMB recommended a surge-like drink after cardio, in his Appetite for Construction article in the last issue. This applied to even when doing cardio to lose fat.
I plan to incorporate sprinting with my workouts and plan to use Surge after both workouts. This would not only stop any catabolism after the sprints, but also aid in my recovery to help improve my running
You see, that’s what got me thinking was Berardi’s last column. I’m doing my weight-training in the morning and then cause I don’t have time to stick in a cardio session, I’m doing that in the afternoon. I know BOTH forms of exercise would require a PW-drink to halt catabolism and get things back to normal, so I guess that they’re both in the the same day is kind of irrelevant.
