Push-up Contest?

hahahaha pretty sad huh? How many did you get? Pushups from a dead stop like that are really difficult

30 but the last three barely count. Gives me a good baseline though. If I train in sets of 15 to 20 and try to get 5 to 10 sets a day spread out I bet I’d be back up there in no time. Used to be able to do 75 in a single set. I have no idea how long it used to take me, but it seems like it was a second up and a second down. I didn’t bounce the bottom but I didn’t lift my hands either. Just a slight pause at the top and at the bottom.

Now I’ve got to take part to redeem myself.

its a lot harder than it sounds. I’m going to have to try these out a little more and get my numbers up!

That was freaking hard!!

I got 33.

But I don’t get how you’re supposed to get your chest on the floor without getting the rest of your trunk on the floor…am I that flat chested?! HAHAHAH!

I’m going to see if the other ladies will get in on this…

More, more!! I love challenges!

When you do the hand lift technique your whole body rests on the floor. It’s basically a dead stop push up… Like a BP from pins

33?!? Damn that’s good masch! Better step up your game Vires

I just managed about 45. The lifting the the hands thing really got me, I think I’ve been using momentum to go back up.

Question however, if you fatigue at the bottom, and rest for a second or two before going back up to full lock, is that still a rep?

If not, I think I did about 35.

Good job. Already I am having it handed to me. The race is on ladies and gents. This ought to be fun.

Oh good! So i was doing them right!

lol. not gonna lie Vires, but I was kinda having a Ferrigno moment and yelling “one.more.than.Vires!”

Also, not to get ahead of ourselves, seeing as to how there’s only 3 of us currently competing - but next challenge should be a BW squat/pullup/pushup(?) challenge - best time wins.

Damn, having benched last night, this might be a bad day to attempt this, but I’ll give it a shot a little later. So all the way down, hands off the ground, and up. Max reps in 2 minutes. Got it.

Masch, damn girl, nice job. I have a feeling you’ve already beat me.

I like that. It would alomost put us into crossfit/MarkTwight 300 training land. I never train like that so the challenge would help me broaden out a bit.

What does everyone’s pullup numbers look like currently? I’m doing sets of 8 to 10 for training and weigh in at 250. Sometimes I do em with a 45 lb plate but were talkin doubles or maybe triples.

I like neutral grip. Are we gonna specify?

I think resting is ok. It’s Max in 2 minutes not max in a row… You can rest as long as you like cause it’s only using up more of your time

Yeah I did chest the day before and was definitely feeling fatigued. I’m not sure how much of that was actually from the chest day or the phenols but I will tell you I am more sore today than after just a normal chest workout. Good luck man

Pull ups would be good but they would be the hardest to judge what is an acceptable rep. Chin over the bar, all the way down to a dead hang WITH NO KICKING (or kipping or body English or whatever people wanna call it)

That’s what makes them difficult to judge… But we can just use the honor system (or post videos which would be better) to see the top scores. I’m probably good for 17+ legit ones? I’m not totally sure though

  1. Mother fuck those were a bitch with the dead-stop at the bottom. Well, gotta have a baseline, right? I think I’ll throw them in on bench days until we have our next ‘contest’

Maybe again in a couple months?

OK let’s talk timeline here.

I think we scared the OP away cause he hasn’t posted here in a while, but I think he was suggesting Sept 19 initially for the final post up. Probably would give everyone the time to get their numbers up. Are we on the same page there?

Sure dude. I’m more than likely forget about the actually comp. but I’ll be incorporating them into my workouts so that I’ll be ready anyway

^^yeah thats what I was thinking. I’ll have totally forgotten about this thing soon lol. I do think i’m going to add these in on my chest day.

People should just keep updating their scores as they increase… If you guys are interested in challenges there is 135 clean and press in two minutes one going on in the high rep C&P thread.

Short attention span theater, starring…

jk I know it will be hard to remember, but maybe if we get a few more people interested it will server to keep everyone on track. You guys will have to plumb you friends list. Unfortunately I have no friends so…

Yeah I saw that one too. Fuck that noise! Well, maybe I’ll give it a shot just to see how far below I am. Haha.
