Push/Pull vs. Body Part Splits

i was wondering which workout would get me faster results for gaining size. a push/pull split routine or a routine where i train just one muscle group per day? (shoulders or back or chest or legs…)

with the push/pull i will be able to hit one muscle group twice a week versus once a week with the body part split.
but i keep hearing that the one muscle group per day thing works better…

If you’re a beginner I’d go with the push/pull routine. There is nothing wrong with body part splits, but they are designed to be used by more advanced trainees. At this point you will be able to train more frequently, so take advantage of it while you can.

Honestly, I’m a big fan of 2 ways splits (which push/pull would fall under) for building mass. Though as one gets more advanced the way the split is scheduled must be changed.

You want as frequent a shedule as you can recover from. If whole body is too frequent for you, a 2 way split is the next best.

You could do both.

Search for the “Naturally Diesel” article.

thanks guys. i will stick to the push/pull for a bit longer and then maybe try the other methods…

Depends on how you apply yourself to your workouts. There are plenty of workouts that all can produce phenomenal results, but it is up to the trainee to stimulate and challenge himself.
