When doing push presses, it’s possible to use more weight than with a static press right? When I push pressed for the first time, I felt tremendous soreness in my delts (for the 1st time ever-yay!) the day after & I think it was because of the extra loading on the eccentric portion. Is this normal? I don’t think I was lowering the bar any more slowly than usual, but should I lower it a bit more quickly because I’m usind more weight?
I have the same soreness every time I go from using a traditional press to any sort of push press/jerk. talk about soreness being rewarding! the soreness is caused by using the heavier weight, and I would lower it at the same speed you usually do. That way, it’s kinda like doing some lower intensity negatives. I love seeing how much stronger I am on regular presses after a cycle of push presses or jerks.
