Pumping Iron the Movie

I was just thinking about this movie the other day. Ive never seen it. Id love to get my hands on the 25th aniversary one. Where could i find it at? I was trying to find it around the other day to buy, but no luck. Prob. have to get it offline.

I dunno, but I would kill for a documentary or a biography of some kind about Zane.

Guess I need to start doing some searching.

The guy was extremely intelligent, articulate, and had one the greatest physiques of all time.

They sell it at best buy, i know that much, and most other large stores that sell DVD’s will have it.

I don’t think he was freaking out at all. If anything he was (still) being extremely patronising and condescending to Lou. His mock “awe” towards Louie, was in effect saying, “Wow, you’re still stuck in the past, while I’ve moved on to bigger and better things”

Just my take on that scene.

Totally agree, he still looks down on Louie.

Hmm…You might be on to something at that, he didnt seem malicious, but you never really know with Arnold…Let’s meet in the middle and chalk it up to his reaction being a defense mechanism(?)…

Bought Pumping Iron this weekend. Its a classic. I love it. Dont mean to bump though.

In that film, Ken had the physique that I would aspire to. Not if Zane had been in the film though…

I aspire to the MASH actor’s physique…“I just want to, you know, like get the blood moving…you know?”[/quote]

Probably the best editing of that movie was dropping that part…better use was the young guys that traveled and got advice on posing, etc. which much more effectively showed that Arnold was the big brother for all things bodybuilding.

That MASH guy would have driven the movie straight into slowdown hell.

Someone asked about Zane and he is in a couple of cut scenes and at the Museum show if you look quickly.

Also watch for the edited scene of Robby Robinson dancing. Every now and then when drinking I break out and do the “Robby Robinson”…the only one that laughs is the one guy that’s seen the cut scenes. It’s awesome.

Sorry if this is off topic but,
I just watched this the other day. Did anyone notice the training methods and the techniques used on the exercises? (I am not at all saying anything bad here)

Lou was doing powercleans and then push-presses. When Lou/Franco were benching, they did not lock the weight out and lifted very quickly .

The squats were fast and I also remember seeing Arnold doing front delt raises and Standing Close grip Rows, he was using his whole body, especially with the rows…

Also Franco was boxing, jumping rope, and doing hanging situps on a pullup bar (held upside-down)only by his feet…oh yeah and he was deadlifting a car into the street! These guys lifted big weights explosively.

I enjoyed the film and I recommend it for anyone who loves lifting.

One thing that I thought was great in the film was when Arnold was trianing in his gym and you could see 3 or 4 guys in the background all busting their ass on different exercises (not standing around with a thumb up their ass chatting it up)…this is a rare site in any commercial gym today (at least the shitholes I go to).

However I am not sure that part beats the part in Louie’s gym when they zoom in on the guy doing db bicep curls with about 5lb db’s and he looks either drunk or about to fall asleep …in case anyone wanted to know where that guy is today…here I am!

Sorry for getting off topic!
