Pump and Progress

Greetings t-earthlings! i have to tell you…i am really psyched from an awesome workout this weekend. not to mention i just got my Surge and can’t wait to start supplementing with it. here is my query: a couple of months ago i started doing pullovers and have experienced unprecedented gains in total upper body strength. i have been able to push around more weight with more control in just about every chest and back movement. my pumps have been incredible. i look in the mirror during my workouts and think this can’t be me. i ran into an old friend during the workout and he wondered what i had been doing because i was obviously getting bigger. the difference between my “cold” look and my “pumped” look is much more drastic than in the past. will this pump look slowly begin to become the norm? also is the pump an indicator that my muscle girdle or sack has been sufficiently stretched so that now with less girdle restriction, proper diet and supplementation i will grow to fill this new capacity? if so then i have a lot to look forward to really soon as long as i can keep anabolic (this is why surge has be so psyched!). if not then what is it an indicator of and how can i make this monster pump hang around for good? thanks. kevo

Do you use dumbbells or a barbell or an ez-bar to do pullovers with?

steve f: i have been using dumbells on a flat bench. i stretch all the way out so that the dumbell almost touches the floor. i get a really good stretch of my ribcage and an awesome chest pump. within 2 weeks of starting the pullovers my incline press poundage went up 15lbs per dumbell (30lbs total!) nothing else changed, just the addition of the pullovers. kevo

no one knows what the pump means, or rather is it neccessary. I tend to agree with Pavels theory, as it has the missing link to the old “flushing” theory. Get a pump with tension and you will grow.

growth seems to always come in spurts and my spurts are always preceded by this increased pump size. although this phenomenon seems to only happen to the muscles that are easiest to contract and flex (like your pecs). it seems that the easier the muscle is to consciously contract (either during exercise or in isometrics) the more of a pump you can create and the more growth you can achieve. i make it a point to work up a good pump and then stretch the muscle out almost to the point of crying. it’s pretty painful. i guess if you are really tuned in you could contract and flex your delts to enhance the pump, but i doubt it. maybe that’s why muscles like your delts are so hard to grow since there is no real mind muscle connection there to exploit nor exists the ability to get a bruital stretch. these are just my recollections as i sit here and type, so i might be talking out of my ass. if anybody has something to add or any corrections to make please feel free. kevo
