I have lifted on and off for 27 years. In that time, “pull downs” have always been with a pronated (palms away from you) grip. Now I find myself wondering if that is what is meant by default when someone says they did “pull downs”? Is it?
Thank you!
There are different handles and grips and stuff.
Right. But when walking up to a pull-down bar, which way do the palms usually face?
Im not sure if there is a “regular” way. Id say its 50-50, some do it wider with palms facing away, some do it a bit more narrow with palms facing them.
When i do regular pullups, my set consists of 4 different grips, i do 1-3 with palms facing all ways, also wide neutral and narrow neutral, with no rests, so the set is like 10-12 reps with 4 different variations back to back.
Keep in mind that it actually doesnt even matter much. When you look at someones arms and back, you definetly wont be able to tell : “oooo, i can see this guys does pulldowns with palms facing [whatever way]”. There is no way to tell, which means there is no difference.
