how much protien can a person take in a serving without wasting it, how long does it take for your body to disguist this amount.Can I take protiens in food and drink at the same time? I was told that my body would not recognize the drink and dump it out the system. I am 5’9 ,185 lbs.
Ah yes the million dollar question, there has been much debate on how much the body can handle at one time. The standard has been 40 grams per serving, why I have no idea. I would also like to know if there is any new research on this. I think it depends on what type of protien in ingested. Hydrolyzed whey will absorb at a much different rate than steak.
It is not known yet on how much protein your body can digest at one meal. There have been no studies to confirm this and the thing about whole food and protein drinks sound like a load of bull. Whole food is just digested slower than protein shakes.
nobody knows for sure. but one thing that is certain is that the more muscle mass you have the more amino acids your body needs for repair and rebuilding. therefore those with large amounts of muscle mass can process more protein than the average guy.
I also forgot to mention that it is probably better to spread your protein intake over 5-7 meals. That way your body will digest it easier.
I’m only guessing here but i would have thought that the amount of nutrients (i.e protein) in one meal would be a major factor in determining whether you’re gonna be an ecto meso or endo. a friend of mine has intestinal problems and doesnt absorb nutrients well. as a result of several years HARD training he’s immensley lean and strong but has no real size. all we do know is that if you take in more protein than your body wants you’ll wave goodbye to the expensive stuff down the toilet.
