Guy’s, I am currently on a modified T-Dawg Diet and have to take in around 375 grams of protein per day. I know there used to be this saying that you shouldn’t consume more than 30 grams of protein per meal and I found out on here that it was bulls**t!! Is there a limit as to how much I can eat in one sitting and how long I have to wait until I can eat the same amount again???
Kindest Regards
Well we know that 30 grams per sitting is complete crap. But really i think it all depends on how hard you train in the gym. For a person that dosent lift weights at all then 30 grams per sitting is probably too much. But if you REALLY push yourself at the gym 4-5 times per week then 50-60 grams per sitting would be best. I dont think you would have too many problems even if you had 70-80 grams at some meals during the day (i.e. last meal of the day). Just make sure that the protein is high quality without too much saturated fat in it.
I take up to 90 grams of casein b4 bedtime so if you are worried about 30 grams, then what do you say for 3 times that amount at one sitting for the sleeping fast period? I’ve been on a protein shake diet taken in different formulas throughout the day as well as one solid meal around 6pm. I’m shooting for a minimumof 2 grams per pound of body weight. Even throughout the day i feel hungry because the shakes do not fill my stomach up. How can you possibly tell if you are not absorbing the protein? were would it go? I take some added papaya enzyme plus to aid in the digestion process. laters pk
I know that each person’s body absorbs protein differently so it can depend on a lot of different factors. I do know that if you consume too much protein in one meal, you are going to get some bad breath and gas real quick, plus feel sick and want to vomit. That’s probably because your body can only absorb so many grams of protein per meal and by eating massive quantities of it, you are giving your liver and/or kidneys one hell of a time trying to eliminate that while the rest of the body absorbs the protein. So odds are, you eat too much protein, you’ll be on the shitter for quite some time (I’m speaking from experience here!). The more you train, the better your body will be able to absorb protein and increase protein synthesis. I’ve heard that overtime, you can train your body to intake more protein than it normally does (excluding exercise) but it takes a while and I cannot validate this information. I would assume that since different proteins have different rates of absorbtion, that maybe whey protein is best since it offers best nitrogen retention. I think the ammount of protein you can consume before puking all over yourself is based on how much of it you consume, not what type but once again, I’m not sure. Hope this helps.
