Just wondering how much protein you guys think one can take in at once. How much do you typically take for the following: post workout, before bed, and first thing in the morning. How much is too much at once. All opinions welcome.

Seriously, myself I can only ingest about 45-50g of protein in one sitting. That’s about the upper bar for me…a few grams more and I weep profusely while sitting on the toilet feeling the wasted protein being excremented…

I get 35 grams in my postworkout shake, 50 grams in the morning meal, and 70 grams in my bedtime shake(chocolate protein powder and two tablespoons of natural peanut butter).
Ive taken in well over 100 grams before with no problem other than being real full.
As Cy Willson mentioned in his article about protein, no one has really presented a study about how much protein can be digested at one sitting. That’s why the ol’ 30-40 grams maximum “limit” is now pretty much considered a ghost story. I know some bodybuilders who ingest at least 60 grams per meal, have great physiques and do not have problems digesting that much protein. Personally, I’ve recently been trying out Cy Willson’s suggestion of one gram of protein per 2 pounds of bodyweight (half your bw in protein) postworkout and I don’t have problems digesting it.
One thing I’m also wondering is how much people take at certain times of the day. For example, for those that can tolerate high levels of protein at once, do you take say 50 grams post workout and 80 grams before bed, etc. When should the most be ingested? I’d like to know this in addition to what I previously asked. Thanks for the response guys!
