Protein AIDS?

yesterday, i was reading a punjabi(an indian langauge) newspaper in my house. when i got to the health section there was an article on protein powders. in translation from punjabi, it said “protein powders linked to aids in clinical test from mohali.”(mohali is a city in punjab that has a medicinal institute). the article said that people who take protein powders(many people in india are starting to go to the gym) are 7.5x more likely(didn’t make up the number) to develop aids.

nowhere in the article did it describe the study or sources or describe how protein powders can give you aids. they don’t even give you hiv, they give you aids right away. and this isn’t the first time i’ve seen something like this in an Indian newspaper.

we think some of our studies are bad here(protein and kidney damage), but they’re not as bad as the “studies” in india. sad part, my dad believes it and he’s a pharmacist that’s pretty well paid and took medicine and nutrition in his courses.

have you ever heard anything as stupid as this “study”?( i wish i had a link or something)

People living in India are 7.5x more likely to develop AIDS.

Even higher if you’re gay or work with monkeys.

If both, look out.

Well that’s just fucking stupid. Everyone knows it’s creatine that increases your risk.

Duh

Thought of this right away

Develop aids? Like,
yawn man i slept good…hmm, i feel odd…Doc, whats wrong with me?”
“I am sorry to say but you have devolped aids, out of nowhere”
“WHAT? HOW? WHY!?”
“because fuck it.”

People who share needles for injecting steroids probably also use protein powder. Yes, that would be incredibly stupid, but I don’t know how to get needles in India, or anywhere else for that matter.

It’s either that, a retarted study or some really fucked up batch of protein powder.

I think that there’s something to this. Steroids are a much more prevalent part of Indian gym culture compared to Western gyms.

i also believe it has to do with sharing needles, unprotected sex, and other usual sources of transmittting aids…not aids protein

just because two things correlate with eachother does not mean they cause each other…

in ny, crime goes up when ice cream sales go up…

but, it’s not the ice cream causing the crime…it’s the heat from summer…

can you really be so sure?

I’ve eliminated my chances of catching AIDS by making sure I already have AIDS.

I suggest you do the same.

It might be another attempt to discredit the HIV causes AIDS “theory”. There are still people out there who think that HIV does not cause AIDS, maybe they’re claiming that protein causes AIDS now.
Also, I wouldn’t be so sure that the ice cream isn’t causing the crime; have you seen kids hyped-up on sugar?!

Sure, I believe it.
And by “it,” I mean that there’s a correlation between the two. There’s correlations between all sorts of unrelated things (such as the ice cream sales and crime rates example).
What seems odd to me is that somebody would design a study with the sole purpose of determining if a link between protein powder and AIDs exists… how do you even come up with that?

correlation =/= link

It’s not the heat, it’s the fact that people are outside more for longer hours. In other news, wind is caused by rustling leaves on trees.

it is most likely multiple factors…

but, it’s not caused by something arbitrary like ice cream…that’s the point i was trying to make anyway…

Idk man, I have had ice cream that gave me the insatiable appetite to steal.

You only think it’s arbitrary because you cant explain it, but the data is clear. I propose a government-funded study to explore this link. I think I’m going to drop ice cream for the time being though. Maybe I’ll cycle it 1 day on 2 days off and see if I still have desires to rob and beat people.

I’m not even sure…

do u think they bake the aids into the protein?
