prolotherapy - its effectiveness

Has anybody had this therapy done? I have had numerous ankle sprains over the years (and seem to be very prone to them now) and believe that the joint has become loose because of stretched tendons and ligaments. I am considering prolotherapy to tighen up the joint but would like to hear from people who have had the procedure done.

i would also like to hear from anyone on this. I was diagnosed with anterior shoulder instability, slight rotator cuff tear and bicep tendinitis from a car accident. Anybody know of any practioners in the New York City area???

Had some prolotherapy injections (50/50 glucose/lignocaine) about 6 years ago for a trashed rotator cuff and was amazed by its effectiveness. It started to feel better almost immediately, and I don’t just mean pain relief from the lignocaine, it actually felt more stable within hours of getting the shots. I don’t know your exact situation but I would certainly recommend you seriously investigate prolotherapy.

Did the injections hurt in the shoulder?? Were u still able to keep up with your work-outs while getting treatment?? Thanks

The shoulder inflamation was pretty severe so I had to refrain from training that area. It actually felt like there was gravel in the shoulder joint when I moved it , it was pretty fucked up. So when I recieved the prolo, I was not training. The shots don’t hurt much at all. I had about 3-4 visits if i remember correctly. When the doc felt that was enough, she sent me off to a chiro who helped improve the range of motion. When he gave the go ahead I started using light weights and the ‘shoulderhorn’ to work my rotator cuff. My shoulder is fine now, stronger than ever. If I do certain excercises like dips it starts to grumble, so I just avoid them.
