Hey guys,
I’ve been using the 5/3/1 template for awhile with great success. I took the past month or so off from 5/3/1 and just did basic bodybuilding work. Although I did 5/3/1 before, I always had a bodybuilding type split with it.
This is what I have followed as a template; and still do, minus the 5/3/1 percentages right now:
Monday- 5/3/1 Bench
2-3 exercises of chest and back each (supersets)
Tuesday- 5/3/1 Squat
-2-3 more exercises for legs
Wednesday- Arms (or day off depending on how I feel that day from previous workouts)
Thursday- OFF or Arms
Friday- 5/3/1 Deadlift (possibly overhead press as well when I start 5/3/1 again.)
-and then some shoulders for accessory work, possibly some lunges or split squats
So I’ve been following this type of training for awhile even before I started 5/3/1. I also love supersets, I love how its a fast pace and keeps me moving. Is this possibly too much training?? I don’t want to overtrain myself. Maybe I need to switch up my routine to breakthrough some plateaus. I’m also an athlete so I like to keep myself fast and powerful…and looking good, hah. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance guys!!
