Program in the 10+ Rep Range?

I’m looking for a workout program or split in the 10+ rep range if possible. I have been lifting weights for 6 years and want to start following my cardiologists orders in using the 10+ rep range due to my heart condition.

I am open to any suggestions to workout programs or splits in that rep range. I’d like one for bodybuilding purposes that yield good solid muscle growth ( I have my nutrition set up). I’d also like to get stronger from workout to workout.

Any suggestions on programs or splits in the 10+ rep range? Thanks again guys!

Edit - I am deleting my suggestion after reading your other thread (which I should have done first). I don’t have an understanding of your condition and think you should follow the advice of those that provided it.

How exactly have you been training for the last year or so? Has your condition “improved” at all?

Dude, you’re talking about your heart. Not how to train with a bad shoulder or lifting with a bum knee. Your fucking heart. Getting advice from relatively-anonymous sources online might not be the best way to go.

Just keep everything in perspective. Building muscle is nice, but death is the most extreme from of atrophy there is. I’m out of my league on this one, so I’ll just suggest using a heart rate monitor during any form of exercise and keeping your HR at a “reasonable” rate, whatever your sports cardiologist has determined to be reasonable for you.

Techniques like purposeful breathing/avoiding holding your breath and absolutely avoiding muscular failure can help to reduce blood pressure spikes, so I’d keep those in mind with any lifting you do.

Hi.

Have you had stress tests-while hooked up to an halter monitor to monitor your heart function? Done A Thermal Nuclear Imaging/Cat Scan/MRI ?

Have you had an Angioplasty done recently?

Have you been blood pressure cuffed during lifting?

What is your Ejection Fraction ? (this is very important to know, probably the most important with your condition IMO)

Are you symptomatic of your condition?

Btw I am 43 yrs old with a Bicuspid valve/Sic Sinus node. A Pacemaker was installed as of 3/28/07 due to Bradycardia (Heart-rate was under 20 while sleeping!) and Atrial fibrillation

I was born with polysplenia heterotaxy Syndrome and Situs Inversus. I have all you problems and many more so I feel your pain.

I program my Templates with ceiling maxes of 80% of my true rm. Sounds familiar huh? I also keep reps 5 and under on the big lifts all done dead stop.

I also sprint/push sled /run hills/mountain bike 3-4 times a week.

Hope this helps.
