Problem Timing Sprint Intervals

I’ve recently decided to do more outdoor intervals than stationary bike intervals. I usually run for 30 seconds and walk for a minute. The problem is it is hard to pay attention to my stopwatch while I am running. I run alone because all my friends don’t like the outside.

What can I do to make sure I am running for exactly 30 seconds and not slowing down during to check my time?

Pick a distance. Sprint it, and then walk it twice, then sprint it again.

You’re over-thinking things, as long as you get around 30 seconds you’ll be fine. It’s not 32 or 29 seconds is going to be any less efficient.

Perhaps a rather complex solution…

I don’t know if you listen to an mp3 player at all, but with an audio program you can splice music clips together and just change the music for each time interval.

Like I said, maybe a bit complex, but it saves having to look at a stopwatch and you really won’t need to think at all about time when doing it.

Yeah, I guess I did over think it. I’ll stop worring about time and just run.

Hugo, I might try the music slipping thing because my friend likes making mix CDs and has Sony Acid.

One other thing to note is that you should eventually be upping the sprinting time or lowering the the walking time.
