Pride/UFC Pictures

That was entertaining. I loved the commentary in Japanese it added to the excitement.

Who won that fight with Frye in it?

And why would anyone “miss” Don Frye, did he retire?

Frye won that fight. Yoshihiro Takayama’s face looked horrid! His last fight was 12/31/2004 in K-1. He’s been on a loosing streak since he took out Takayama, and that was in 2002. He hasn’t fought in PrideFC since 2003.

Great thread.

Living over here in Nippon it’s a non-stop feast of Pride and K-1. k-1 has become a bit of a circus though. Bob Sapp actually won an 8-man elimination tournament the other day. That’s how low the overall level is. And top UFC guys like Chuck Liddel regularly get cleaned up in Pride. Pride is the real deal.

I actually bumped into Don Frye in the airport a few months ago. The guy’s not that massive, but looks like he is made out of stone.

I have to agree with some other posters that Silva is pound-for pound the world’s best. But once Mirko becomes more familiar with ground work, look out.

Wanderlei Silva is a bad, bad man.

Arlovski vs Matyushenko, UFC 44. Ironically, I’m envious of Matyushenko… ;p

“Chuck Liddell is the best fighter around.”

Around where? Rampage beat his ass. Horn will probably beat him again.

Sorry, but that was a strange declaration to make. Is he better than Fedor?

young crocop

From what I have read in other forums, there are many people who are picking Igor to win the Pride GP. I would personally like to see Wanderlei beat Igor in the final. Any predictions if this fight does occur?

Yikes, that looks painful.

Just wrong thanks for reminding why I don’t follow UFC.

Coll video. It was kinda funny to see the unconcerned slightly out of shape guy win.

Please keep this thread going, it is great. Anybody ever see much Marco Ruas?

Last time I saw Ruas was in “The Eliminator” with Bas. Mediocre movie, but it was cool to see El Guapo act.

I will post the results for Pride Critical Coutdown so if you plan on ordering it next weekend I suggest you do not check this thread until after next week.

Critical Coutdown results:

Silva def. Nakamura

Overeem def. Igor

Shogun def. Nogueira

Arona def. Sakuraba

Sergei def. Rizzo

Crocop def. Magomedov (after fight Fedor went into the ring and confirmed an August 28 fight with Crocop, I think it will be on the GP finals card)

Well it looks like the Pride GP finals card is going to be insane with the finals, of course, and the Crocop vs Fedor fight scheduled as well. The competition is very good and it will not be easy for Wanderlei to win the tournament but I am rooting for him and I hope he can pull it off. As for Fedor vs Crocop, I would like to see a Crocop victory. Hopefully both fighters can stay healthy until the fight. Any preditions?

Is it just me or do quite of the fighters in the clips shown have little to no (Thai) boxing skills? They seem to just brawl and tough it out…

Of course, some of them do exhibit skills such as Crocop.

Just my observation (and before anyone gets ticked off, offended, and start shouting “yeah well I bet you wouldn’t stand a chance bluh bluh bluh” let me just say, “that’s beside the point.”)
