Saw this story on the news earlier this week. Its about a woman who had surgery and testosterone therapy to become a transgender man. Even went so far as to legally have his sex changed from female to male. Then he married a woman. Then he found out his wife couldn’t bear children (hysterectomy). Then he got pregnant and had a baby girl. Now he’s pregnant for a second time.
Great snippets from the column:
“After years of struggling with his sexual identity and deciding to live as a man, he did the most womanly thing possible – he became pregnant.”
“Beatie was impregnated with sperm from a donor. His wife, Nancy, inseminated him at home with a device she said was like a syringe without the needle. They bought it from a veterinarian and it is typically used to feed birds.”
“He quickly went from a Miss Teen Hawaii USA finalist to taking testosterone and growing a beard”
“The couple had a difficult time finding a doctor who was willing to help them conceive. They saw nine obstetricians before one was willing to help them.”
I’m curious what other people’s reactions to this story are. This isn’t intended to be a debate on the morals of transgender culture. I’m more interested on opinions of this isolated case.
I can understand why a couple who are in love would want to have kids. But for this couple, I see adoption as a much better route. I mean how brutal is it gonna be for this kid when his parents sit him down and explain that daddy is actually his birth mommy but before daddy was daddy he was a girl from Hawaii. Kids in middle school are cruel enough to begin with.
Could you imagine if this kid’s middle school peers eventually find this story out?! Forget ridiculing the fat kid. This kid would be the butt of every joke for the better part of his adolescent and teenage life. On a lighter note, if the kid were adopted he would be untouchable. No one makes fun of someone for being adopted. That’s just mean.
