Powerlifting Squat

Hi.

I train using both squat and deadlift for leg development.
My squat style is Oly back and front(I mean go deep, high bar on shoulders, quite narrow grip on the bar).
I also have pretty long arms. 178 cm height x 194 cm wingspan. yeah I guess I look a lil bit like an ape.
For this reason my deadlift is always way better than my squat.

I lately noticed that my hamstrings development sucks ass.
I am doing GHR to improve this, but I reckon it is not enough.

Would it be a good idea to add Powerlifting Style Squat to develop stronger hamstrings?
My goal is not powerlifting, but general strength development.
I rather not use stiff leg Deads if possible.

Thanks in advance for replies!

I would recommend stiff legged dead lifts, been a big help for me. Maybe even deficit dead lifts depending on your goals. No matter the day for me, squat or dead lifts I always include 3-5 sets of stand leg curls. Perhaps this could help you as well. Depends on what your end goal is.

Although parallel low-bar squats do stimulate the hamstrings more than ATG squats, the increase in hamstring activation isn’t hugely significant. If hamstring development is the goal, do something that targets the hamstring much more than squats, such as SLDL, RDL, GM, GHR, or even leg curls. If you want to switch to powerlifting squats, fine, but I don’t think the primary motive should be hamstring development, because I feel there are more effective methods.

depends on goals, if your goals are PLing, get a PLing stance, get the bar off your spine, and onto your rear delts, get your base wide, and find a position you can squat the most weight in. Use front squats for quad development, and go ATG on these, train your squats to be a Power Lift. You want more postiror development, do what Pler’s do - goodmornings-RDLs-Dimel deadlifts-Box squats. If your goal is to be a PLer, train like a Pler, look around and see what the guys at Elite FTS and other Pling websights are doing in they’re logs, look at Pling logs here, and ask questions to these guys, guys that can squat 500+ will probably be willing to tell you what they did. Goodluck
