leg press and powerlifting dont usually mix.
actually the leg press can be a very good tool for building quad strength specifically for breaking the weight off the ground in a deadlift, for a conventional puller that is.
…in powerlifting training the leg press is a COMPLETE waste of time. any progress that could made on the leg press towards the dead lift, could be better made squatting or deadlifting; end of story.[/quote]
Your allergic reaction to leg press might explain your unimpressive 385 lb squat!!!
Nutrition doesnt make a huge difference just make sure you get enough carbs. I ve seen too many great powerlifters who eat crap and don’t bother about nutrition.

I really think this is misguided. Many great powerlifters may have eaten like crap and done well, but most likely recognize the fact that had they eaten better (more protein, better carbs, higher quality nutrients) they would have gotten even more out of their training. I have a hard time buying into the belief that what you put into your body doesn’t really effect what you can lift.

STFU and GTFO
I think the reason many powerlifters that eat crap are successful because it is hard (and expensive) to get in as many calories as they need to progress optimally, especially towards the higher end weight classes.
The cleaner you eat, the longer you’re going to spend cooking, preparing, and even eating - a chicken breast and rice goes down a lot slower than a burger. I think for someone purely concerned about strength, some junk is okay, as long as healthy food isn’t displaced to make room for a bit of junk.
