I need to do these a lot more often.
Spring finally came.
What a difference a month makes. Three days in a row that hit 80.
Is that first photo from above the Artic circle?
No, just a tough winter. Last winter I never even used my snowblower. This winter did not help my argument about where to live after marriage. I told her I really enjoy the privacy, solitude, backyard bonfires and target shooting and that in town there is no place to park my tractor.
And… picnic tables!
Target shooting and no neighbors to complain about you is worth the snow shoveling. I am dangerously close to considering setting up an archery range in my driveway shooting into my garage gym. Not sure how the neighbors will feel about that.
That is so funny, I asked her (grown up on a farm) awhile back if she thought my tractor was “sexy”. She said my tractor is not that big.
I’m trying to figure out an archery back stop or net for company. The axe throwing target has been a lot of fun for everyone.
That looks like a good time just waiting to happen!
I had good experience with a few pieces of plywood attached to fence posts, and then stacking hay bales in front of it. Fairly cheap to build, and easy enough to build a 6foot tall by 8 foot wide area to shoot at. From there, it’s super easy to just stab attach targets to the hay bales
Excuse me good sir?

Pushing the PG envelope with “tractor”?
12-month progress
When I had to take the one plate off the bar and put on a 25lb just to do some squats, I felt defeated. I did not know if that was normal strength loss after chemo or what to expect for recovery. I searched online and could not find answers to my concerns. There were only vague and extreme generalities This is what I experienced.

I’m sure that if someone trained 12 consecutive months they could have done better. I trained 1 month then was out for 2 months with a pulmonary embolism that caused a 25 Lb.
weight loss and a reduction in exercise capacity. Lost 2 more weeks following a surgery, after that training was consistent. The first couple months of training I was still on morphine and oxy that I believe had a negative effect on training.
My treatment consisted of 35 radiation treatments and 6 chemotherapy (Cisplatin) treatments, the 7th was called off because of my health. This was for a cancer in the neck that spread to a lymph node.
**Conclusion **
After 12 months of training, I was not able to regain the strength I lost in 7weeks of cancer treatments. The squat was the hardest hit and the slowest to make progress on.
side note
When I started deadlifting again the muscles did not fire like they should, the rhythm was off. I don’t know why. I only noticed it on the deadlift. It got better with each workout.
Before treatments Age 54 BW 339
After 6 months of training post treatments
Age 55 BW 274
Good sir. With all due respect, I don’t think you understand how taxing chemo is on the body. The Pulmonary embolism also literally could have killed you. Literally. Your numbers may not be what they were before, but for someone who’s been through hell and back, your numbers look awesome.
^I agree. Most of your strength should return from muscle memory. I remember 55’s young enough for great lifting. That health scare surely toughened you in some new ways. You’re a new man, with a tractor.
Enjoy it.

Thanks gentlemen, it’s a new territory for me. I wish I had a log or some information to reference last year. I’m not dwelling on used to be’s. I wanted to put out some information that I would have liked to have read back then.
Does 1 square bale stop the arrow? I’m getting a lighter recurve for guests to use but I have a compound with a higher draw weight.
