I never had an issue with it, only used up to a 70lb draw weight though, so maybe if you have a 90 or something it could be different. It’s why I’d have the wood backstop just in case, but it was never needed for me.
Just make sure you rearrange the hay every couples of months. Easy to do, just kind of shimmy it around, but if you hit the same spot too consistently you can start to make that specific area pretty sparse. Takes a lot of shooting to do though

Got to the gym later than usual. It was full of college kids. Space in front of the mirrors for doing curls was limited but the squat racks were wide open. When someone jumped into the adjacent rack, you wouldn’t believe it.

Hopefully several people in similar situations read this and can find the answer they’re looking for. I watched my dad go through a year of treatments and he withered away to little more than a skeleton (then he died). Not only did you beat it, you also regained 80%+ of your former strength after 12 months. If that isn’t an astounding victory I don’t know what is. You are an incredible inspiration to me and I’m sure you are and will be to many others. Stay after it my friend!

This is my gym all day every day except often younger than college age even. They will walk in the gym and their first exercise is something like curl dropsets. 5 or 6 sets of dumbbells taken by just a couple of guys super setting incline curls with concentration curls or something. sigh

Did not take the time to set my grip and my right hand started opening up at the top of the lift. Need to add 20lbs to this lift within 5 months (my next meet) to break the USPA national record in the drug tested masters 2B classic raw. I think the current record is too low for a national record in a large federation. I will try and fix it.
